Reviews summary

Nestled near the iconic Devils Tower, this restaurant offers a Wild West diner atmosphere, marked by friendly service but inconsistent food quality. While some dishes, such as the cheeseburger and Bison burger, receive praise for their cooking, others, like the lukewarm fries and flat burgers, leave much to be desired. Diners note that the menu often resembles reheated, gas-station fare, making for an underwhelming culinary experience. Despite its charm and cleanliness, patrons may find better options by driving a short distance away. Ultimately, the establishment might serve as a convenient pit stop, but expectations should be kept in check.

What Phyllis M dislikes about Cattle Kate's Cafe:

We 're staying at the KOA right behind this restaurant so decided to stop in for a quick breakfast before going to Devil 's Tower. There were only 5 tables occupied when we arrived. It 's seat yourself and a waitress appeared quickly with menus and took drink order. She came back in about 5 minutes to take our food order, hubby had the pancake platter, I had the French toast platter. We waited a good 30 minutes for o... View all feedback.

The service at this restaurant was great, but the food was not impressive. It seemed like the dishes were just reheated frozen food. The atmosphere was charming, but not very upscale. It has a definite Wild West diner vibe. The BLT I ordered was decent, but nothing extraordinary that I couldn't easily make at home. The fries were also underwhelming. I would not recommend this restaurant, but there aren't many other options in the area.

During our stay at the campground, we decided to have breakfast at this restaurant. The pancakes were decent, though not outstanding. The hash browns appeared to be the frozen variety and were fried. My daughter did not enjoy the French toast. Overall, the food was nothing special, but at least it was warm.

Despite the many negative comments, I have to give it to this restaurant. It may be small and lacking in nearby options, but the cleanliness, hardworking staff, and good food make up for it. It may not be a high-end establishment, but that's neither here nor there. My husband enjoyed his cheeseburger with fries and BLT with fries, with the only issue being the slight difference in crispiness between the two batches of fries. I had the Bison burger and chef salad, both cooked perfectly to my liking. The shared bathroom with the KOA building is only occasionally busy, especially during larger groups. I appreciate the staff's dedication to driving long distances to provide us with tasty food and good service. Complaining doesn't change anything - sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. Remember, nobody's perfect.

We waited a good 30 minutes for our food which seems crazy since by now only 4 tables were full and they were already eating. The food was pretty good. Hubby liked his pancakes and he 's a pancake snob, my French toast was good. The scrambled eggs were cooked well and appeared to be 'real eggs ' not from a carton. The bacon was crispy. So 4 stars for food, 2 stars for really slow service, average of 3.

Overpriced. Gas-stationy food. Kids mac-n-cheese comes room temperature. I guess it's conveniently placed next to Devils Tower. Just pack a lunch or drive the 8 miles to the next restraunt!

The service at this restaurant was excellent, but the food was mediocre. It seemed like the dishes were just reheated frozen meals. The ambiance was pleasant, but nothing extraordinary. That's all.

I have to admit that I didn't have high expectations, but after visiting Teufelsturm, we decided to stop by this restaurant for breakfast on our way from South Dakota the next morning.

My family and I had breakfast at this restaurant while camping nearby. The pancakes were decent, but not amazing. The hash browns seemed to be pre-made and frozen before being fried.
