Was Raymond Hebert at Le Honfleur a mag?
We were tired. Couldn’t be bothered wandering out of the hotel to look for a restaurant. Settled for this place. We were amazed. Stylish, modern decor. Very friendly service. Wonderful food. Take your time over dessert. What more could we have asked for. Seriously, we couldn't fault the place. A lot of the ingredients, and the cuisine were local. What Sarah W dislikes about Le Honfleur:
We only went here as we were staying at the hotel and everywhere else seemed closed Sunday night . It was poor I had salmon which was served with a thick sauce which tasted of flour, rice and a cooked tomato ! and then a prune dessert the pastry was terrible, it was dry, no sauce or cream zut alors if this is French cuisine give me Italian or Spanish any day. The serving staff were very friendly and obliging however. View all feedback.

On arrival at this hotel, at about 13:00, our room was not yet ready for occupation. We were tired after our journey in hot weather so we really wanted to shower and a change of clothes before setting out to discover Rouen. So, while we waited, we decided to have a quick lunch in the hotel at ‘Le Bistro’ which was in the bar area just off of reception. The menu was labelled ‘Le Boston’. I am unable to find any website which pertains to this eatery by its names ‘Le Bistro’ or ‘Le Boston’ which is separate to the main Honfluer Restaurant but obviously shares a common kitchen. When we told the receptionist what we were going to do she told us that she would notify the duty bar attendant of the arrival of customers in the bar. Thus we assume the bar is open but not staffed all of the time. Our order for glass of wine and a snack meal each was taken by the bar attendant, and we sat alone in the quite large, comfortable and tasteful bar area for a few minutes before the wine arrived. The arrival of wine immediately brightened up the occasion for us. It was a really fantastic wine “Le Canon du Marechal Blanc 2018”despite being so young. Great floral notes in the bouquet and a pleasant dry and fruit flavoured on the tongue and palate, grapefruit, pear and peach. Surprisingly complex for a young wine. My partner’s Club sandwich looked good and was eaten with obvious enjoyment. My haché steak burger and chips was excellent, succulent medium rare burger, but the unexpected melted Brie was not mentioned in the description and was not required . So, I scraped both pieces off my burger and didn’t eat them. The accompanying salad included cornichons excellent. Service was very good and our bar attendant was very pleasant.

Just like the guide books say. Lovely and picturesque. Plenty of eating places around the harbour with good quality plat de jour. great walk up the river (saw otters). There is a public motor home site there too. Big park. Good morning runs. We saw storks on arrival too. Town had a small supermarket for picnics Great for d day sites. Biggest problem was cobbled streets everywhere were a nightmare for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
We were staying in the hotel, and arrived after a very long drive. We could not be bothered to go out searching for a restaurant, so we decided to eat in. Our expectations are usually low when staying in a hotel chain, but we had a pleasant surprise! Our food was good! We both had salad starters that were fresh and tasty and my husband had Curried Monkfish, which he raved about! Service was good....we were happy!
