Description

Stu’s BBQ is a hidden Des Moines gem celebrated for smoked brisket, standout mac and cheese, baked beans, ribs and flame-grilled burgers. Staff are friendly and accommodating—often salvaging service during system outages—and the shop handles catering well. The casual, food-court setting is wheelchair accessible and ideal for quick lunches, dates, or office events. However, guests report occasional inconsistencies (undercooked or overly salty sides, a problematic turkey dish) and unreliable printed receipts and staffing during busy times.

The lemonade was truly the best I've ever had! I can't wait to try the food!

I want to start by highlighting the incredible job done by the lone staff member on duty—he truly exceeded our expectations! This restaurant is a hidden gem in Des Moines. Even though his system was down, he went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. We had to step out to get cash, and he kindly offered to discount our bill to compensate for the trouble. Everything we tried was delicious, especially the mac and cheese, which I absolutely loved! My fiancé and I left feeling completely satisfied and very happy!

The staff at this restaurant are incredibly friendly. The chef who prepared my flame-grilled hamburger even took a moment to ask for my thoughts on the dish. The burger was fresh and served hot, far superior to what you would find at McDonald's or Burger King. If you're looking for higher-quality food, this is the perfect spot for a quick and satisfying lunch.

Without a doubt, these are the best baked beans I've ever tasted! However, my experience with the turkey was quite disappointing. Like others have mentioned, it was inedible, and I had to throw it away. I'm not entirely certain, but I suspect that the "honey butter" played a role, as it had a strong, unpleasant smell that made it hard for me to eat. Furthermore, the steak fries were undercooked and excessively salty. I really wanted to enjoy my visit to this restaurant, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I hope they can address these issues and improve in the future.
