What Sherpa27154302028 doesn't like about The Tor Cafe:
Quirky little place sites on a busy junction on the way out of Matlock in Cromford. Decent food with quality ingredients, you could taste the beans were of the Heinz variety worth a visit if passing or walking locally View all feedback.
This restaurant is simply charming and delightful, serving delicious and affordable food. The decor is lovely and inviting, and the staff is wonderful. I will definitely be returning when I am in the area.

After passing by many times, we finally decided to check out this quirky, small cafe located on the main road in Cromford. Despite limited seating inside, we arrived early enough to secure a table before it filled up. The unique decor, featuring a blackboard menu on a bicycle frame, charming signs, and map-themed tablecovers, added to the inviting atmosphere. Our breakfasts were delicious and the service was excellent, setting us up for the day ahead. They also had a tempting display of cakes, although we didn't have room to try them this time. The only letdown was the "secret garden terrace" mentioned, which turned out to be a bit underwhelming with just a few dirty tables and nothing else. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable visit and are eager to come back in the future.
There were no tables available when we arrived but they reserved a table for us and told us to come back in 10 minutes. We've been before and knew that it's worth the wait. Lovely freshly cooked breakfasts catering for everyone. Toast and tea included . We paid extra for a strong filter coffee. Lunches look equally good. Wholesome quality food at great prices. And lovely staff.
AVOID ! Huge hygiene problem. Zero hospitality skills. We walked out in the end and left this filthy geezer coughing all over our breakfasts which he was eventually preparing. Whoever’s business this is should be worrying Lost our money but hey ho .
