I read reviews about this restaurant before I fortunately went no note of the comments that were not justified. the menus are especially extensive during Kovid sites, we have only three or four choices. this restaurant has gone out of its. to make them welcome, safe and well fed also catering for gluten-free, which do not all. please try it, they will not regret it and nice to these children they have it rough for th... we had booked or so we thought to stay at this place. we were told by a very rude man that he had just taken over it and knew nothing about the booking, and since we couldn't provide a booking fee, he didn't want to help us. he, he just left us to stay somewhere else. I never found a bad customer service from someone who obviously shouldn't be in this job. I'd rather starve than give him my money for eating. View all feedback.
We stopped by for Sunday roast at this restaurant. The staff greeted us warmly. We ordered two soups and two roast dinners, both of which were delicious although not very hot. Despite the temperature, we enjoyed our meal and finished everything. However, we were put off by the condition of the disabled toilet, which we had to use as we couldn't find the others. There was a mouse poison box on the floor, the floor and sink were filthy, and there was a dirty splash back. Additionally, a storeroom door was left open with dirty pillows inside. When I returned to our table, I noticed a very dirty floor behind the radiator with a Christmas bauble among the dust. Overall, the restaurant needs a thorough cleaning.
Stopped by for an early evening meal after a walk. The food and drinks were excellent. There was a friendly dog that greeted us upon arrival. The manager seemed a bit stuck in his ways and the restaurant could use some sprucing up. However, overall, we were very satisfied.

Very friendly and warm service from the ladies who served us. Nothing was too much trouble and they checked regularly to make sure we were okay. We visited a few weeks ago and my husband raved about the steak and ale pie, so much...so that he had it again, and it was just as good. Fish and chips were declared very tasty massive portions. I loved the steak and stilton flatbread with cheesy chips. Very tasty food, super friendly staff, stunning views.
The Millstone is located in a picturesque spot high on a hill overlooking the centre of Hathersage. In the car park, there is a hut that serves drinks and food, with benches for guests to enjoy the views of the Hope Valley. Due to restrictions, we sat outside at one of the tables with umbrellas for shade. The service was quick and efficient, and the menu offered a variety of options to suit all tastes. Our food, including the veggie sausage and mash and BBQ Lentil burger, was delicious and arrived promptly. The staff were friendly and engaging, adding to the overall positive experience. We will definitely be returning to The Millstone in the future and would highly recommend it.
