What stevemacBelper doesn't like about Jack Rabbits:
So we sat down just after 1.00pm on a Sunday, spent 10 minutes deciding on what food we wanted, then we were told “athe kitchens overwhelmed and has stop serving food!We we’re visiting the area and if we come back again this establishment will not be on our go too list!Totally arrogant and unprofessional! Had a lovely full English breakfast, served by a very nice waitress, with a nice old School headmistressy charm and attentivness to detail. Will come again.
Great cafe for lunch. Nice friendly staff. Reasonable prices, good value for money, decent size portions.
Amazing place and outstanding staff! I visited with family and was served by Jane her attitude was amazing and even helped my disabled mum through her menu, I would highly recommend this to anyone the food was great and will be going back very soon.
I visited Jack Rabbits today (for the last time unfortunately) with a group of friends and our young children, all aged between 2-4. Upon arrival, we were shown to a large table and we placed an order for brunch items, coffees, items from the children 's menu etc. We collected high chairs for our children in this supposedly family-friendly cafe . Around half an hour after arriving, a waitress pulled one member of the group to one side to inform her that other customers had complained about our children 's behaviour, the noise they were making and the fact that they weren 't sitting in their chairs for the duration of the visit. At this point, I would like to highlight that the behaviour of our children was that of what you 'd expect from a toddler. They were chatting and socialising with one another and naturally wanted to have a wander around to explore their environment. At no point did we let them encroach on other occupied tables or cause any noise levels beyond that reasonable of a group of small children in a public environment. Therefore it was very disappointing that the waitress (Jane) had felt the need to victimise us as a group of young mothers and instead defend a couple who had walked into the cafe after us and still proceeded to take a table knowing full well they would be eating in close proximity to a group of small children. Jane made direct judgements towards my friend 's child (staring at him, tutting under her breath) and when we questioned if there was a further problem we were told that we should 've come more prepared with things to entertain our children so they didn 't move from the table and that her children/grandchildren would never behave in such a way. Well I 'm sorry to say that we no longer live in an age of 'children should be seen and not heard ' so Jack Rabbits would do well to give a particular member of staff some training on this draconian attitude. Do not be fooled by the children 's menu, high chairs, changing facilities. This is not an establishment where young children or indeed their parents are made to feel welcome. Take your custom to one of the other family friendly cafes in Ashbourne instead as we shall be doing in future.
Glad I didn’t read reviews before I went as I might not have gone. Had an excellent breakfast, picked the small option, it was plenty big enough for mum and daughter after a walk in Dovedale. Staff pleasant, would definitely go back. As with most reviews, best to read between the lines.
