Absolutely worth of the James beard semifinalist award. We had a great time a Mak fam and enjoyed all of the dishes we tried. The dishes were a mix of Chinese and Asian fusion with some such as the Mala mozz sticks really standing out as fusion done right. The dishes are small so definitely recommend going family style. Totally lives up to the hype. Everything feels homey and handcrafted, like you got invited to someone's house for dinner. I particularly loved the Chinatown dumplings--I'm kinda obsessed with potstickers so I always try to get them when I'm at a new restaurant that serves them and these are my favorite, a soft chewy dough that's perfectly fried on the bottom and with a sweet and tangy sauce on the side. I also got to try orange wine for the first time here and it's delicious, really fresh tasting, the citrus taste really comes through. I also really appreciated that the menu said their staff all gets paid above Denver's minimum wage and the tip is split between everyone working, both front and back of house (besides the managers . It seems like their staff is treated well and it came through in how fantastic the service is, everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable, relaxed, and attentive. They're either genuinely happy to be working there or they're amazing actors (and I'm hoping it's the former haha . I'm definitely looking forward to our next visit! I want to try everything on the menu! (For example, the stir fry we had couldn't be vegan because it's served with egg noodles, but you could have it vegetarian by substituting the beef with tofu. Nearly everything on the regular menu that's served with meat can have tofu as a substitute.

My only complaint would be that it's a bit pricy for the size of the plates but the flavors make it worth it!
