I was drawn in by their parfait half... read more As a first-time visitor, I embarked on a foodie adventure in downtown Davis and concluded my evening at Sweet and Shavery. I was drawn in by their parfait half and half, which combines Italian ice with frozen custard. I really appreciate this creative twist on dessert and loved the extensive menu of possible combinations! Although there was a long line, the service was surprisingly quick, and they generously offer two free samples. I tried the chocolate ice, which convinced me to go for the chocolate macaroon parfait made with chocolate ice, coconut cream ice, chocolate custard, and chocolate sauce. My partner opted for the frozen banana parfait, featuring banana ice, chocolate custard, and chocolate sauce. We couldn’t have been happier! Both desserts were beautifully presented and had a light yet satisfying taste. We found a high-top table inside since all the regular tables were taken. Sweet and Shavery seems to be a favorite among students, and I’m thrilled to have discovered what I consider the best dessert spot in Davis!

I had an intense desire for crepes, so I chose the strawberries and cream option. They also provide an extensive list of additional combinations, along with the chance to create your own custom crepe. I thoroughly enjoyed my crepes—they were warm, fresh, and truly satisfying!

Th... read more Sweet and shavery is a small frozen custard shop with different varieties of Italian ice. I had a medium size vanilla frozen custard which was a good amount. The texture is pretty good but it's not too different from a Strauss soft serve. Even though the texture is better than soft serve, the flavor unfortunately was very weak. My vanilla custard did not taste like vanilla. It just tasted like sweet milk. I would say the frozen custard here is just okay. My husband had his frozen custard with mango Italian ice. I tried his mango Italian ice and it had a very nice artificial mango flavor. My husband thought of his dessert was just fine. The bathroom is outside of the shop and down a very deep alley. Prices are okay but a little steep for something that doesn't taste as good as ice cream. The two young ladies that helped us was very friendly and sweet. I probably won't come back anytime soon.

The flavo... read more Came here on a rainy day and the shop was empty but I love eating cold treats on a rainy day so I ordered a strawberry mango Italian ice with custard. The flavors were refreshing and no overly sweet which I appreciated. In addition with the creamy custard, this really hit the spot! I also came with my dad who got the root bear with horchata Italian ice and they were both great too! Definitely want to come back here and I love that the Italian ice is dairy free because it's a great lactose intolerant dessert option!
