Sweet Shavery - Davis

Sweet and shavery is a small frozen custard shop with different varieties of Italian ice. I had a medium size vanilla frozen custard which was a good amount. The texture is pretty good but it's not too different from a Strauss soft serve. Even though the texture is better than soft serve, the flavor unfortunately was very weak. My vanilla custard did not taste like vanilla. It just tasted like sweet milk. I would say the frozen custard here is just okay. My husband had his frozen custard with mango Italian ice. I tried his mango Italian ice and it had a very nice artificial mango flavor. My husband thought of his dessert was just fine. The bathroom is outside of the shop and down a very deep alley. Prices are okay but a little steep for something that doesn't taste as good as ice cream. The two young ladies that helped us was very friendly and sweet. I probably won't come back anytime soon.

Came here on a rainy day and the shop was empty but I love eating cold treats on a rainy day so I ordered a strawberry mango Italian ice with custard. The flavors were refreshing and no overly sweet which I appreciated. In addition with the creamy custard, this really hit the spot! I also came with my dad who got the root bear with horchata Italian ice and they were both great too! Definitely want to come back here and I love that the Italian ice is dairy free because it's a great lactose intolerant dessert option!

Love this spot for sweets in Davis ! Very friendly staff, price points are great. They offer Italian ice, custard and crepes. Very similar to Rita's. Will continue to enjoy Sweet Shavery!

This is a fun spot! I enjoyed the half-and-half, shaved Italian ice on the bottom topped with frozen custard. I didn't think it would be tasty, but it was! Definitely a unique combo. (It's definitely sweet, the small size was plenty for me. The staff was friendly, and happy to give samples. I also appreciated the menu with flavor combination suggestions. Good amount of indoor and outdoor seating.

Sweet and shavery is one of my go to and favorite spots to stop by whenever I visit Davis on a hot day. Their parfaits are a must try combo of Italian ice and your choice of custard (vanilla, chocolate, or swirl). They have a wide selection of Italian ice flavors to choose from. You can create your own parfait or choose one of the pre made flavor combos. Their vanilla custard is one of the best I've had, super creamy and rich. I could just eat a cup of it on its own. A small is good for one person and a medium can be shared by two. The employees are super friendly and welcoming. They keep the store nice and clean. They're on top of cleaning the tables and seats once a customer leaves. Highly recommend stopping by!
