Enjoyed a business dinner on August 15, 2024 at Seasons in Davis. I have not been there in a while and immediately noticed the reduced menu of about 4 entrees, 4 premium sandwiches and numerous apps. The good news is that the restaurant still has the outstanding chef that was there during my last visit. We shared a delicious cantaloupe and feta cheese app, which was delicious. We the both ordered the surf and turf that was different from the usual. This was a long cooked lamb rib (Dixon, CA) and lobster tail combo that was exquisite. The meat literally fell off the bone and was absolutely delicious, and the lobster tail was done to perfection. The wine selection was good and affordable and the drink selections were varied and good. The sorbet and chocolate mousse were out of the ordinary and divine. Prices were higher than I recall but not out of the ordinary for quality food in these days of inflation and generally higher food prices. Overall, I recommend Seasons.
We had a lovely experience dining at Seasons. The Tempura Tofu was excellent. My husband had their Kobe Beef Pizza. Our server was particularly helpful and pleasant. I really can’t speak to the noise. We were traveling and pulled into Davis early (5ish) (I’m a former Aggie) and few people were in the restaurant at that time. The decor is sparse, and attractive. I would happily return next time we are that way.
The best restaurant in Davis, without equivocation. Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere Ben and Katerina are superheroes
One of the best spots in the area, Seasons is a treat featuring high quality sustainable food, but you’ll definitely have to foot one of the highest bills in town. After closing for a bit during pandemic and then reopening recently, it is easy to seethat Seasons has leveled up into a modern and fully featured restaurant. With a good range of dishes but an unpretentious menusize, you’ll get enough to fit any palate or diner’s needs, but not a Cheesecake Factory’s worth of options. I don’tknow why you’re dining at a higher end sustainable restaurant if that’s what you want. Seasonal fare changes often, thingsrun out, dishes cycle on and off menu again that’s the whole point. So when we went and were told something we ordered wasout of stock and we could get a more expensive thing for the same price, that was a lovely surprise. The servers were attentivebut didn’t hover and were really very efficient and friendly. Honestly much more personable and entertaining than you’dnormally see in a bigger place or closer in toward the bay Sacramento. The lamb, steak, and pork are all favorites forentrees and the parsnip soup was delectable, earthy without being bitter… all around a very nice way to start an evening. Ithought plating for dessert was a bit weak but it was very strong for the other courses, so that’s a bit odd. Flavors all hitvery good notes and there wasn’t really a weak item on our list to complain about. Would certainly return. High marks forservice flexibility and friendliness, clean modern decor, COVID safe outdoors with heat lamps for the cold (yay! , and excellentfood. You’ll spend $50 70 a person to get drinks apps entrees, or more plus tips and all that jazz, but I think thewhat’s at stake in exchange is generally a good value. 4.8 5. — edit: added veteran’s day barbecue extravaganza items tothe review photos. Service and meal quality remain high. And now we’ve tasted lots more of this expanded special menu.
The chefs are bad at cooking. The ribs were a bit overcooked, and the special lamb were raw. The price is expensive, and they over charge you a little bit because “the hotel has to went through it.” The menu was full of vegetarian food, also not veryfriendly to meat lovers like me.
