Sam’s Mediterranean in Davis remains a beloved local spot known for generous portions and flavorful gyros and rice plates. The outdoor patio offers a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by attentive, friendly service that many find exceptional. While longtime fans praise the traditional dishes, some recent patrons express concern about inconsistencies and note that certain items feel less fresh or overly processed compared to earlier years. Prices have risen, and indoor seating is limited, but the overall experience, especially dining on-site, retains its charm. Sam’s continues to be a go-to for those seeking hearty, satisfying Mediterranean fare in a relaxed setting.

Great place to eat. It reminded me of my college life in UC DAVIS, California.

I went with a friend in search of an affordable lunch. We ordered a falafel sandwich, fries, and drinks. The falafel sandwich was absolutely delicious; with each bite, I felt transported back to Egypt. The flavors were authentic, and the vegetables were fresh. The music playing in the background brought back fond memories. The women at the counter and our server were incredibly sweet and friendly. I will truly miss this restaurant. It's a shame I had to return to Kansas!

The food is delicious and comes in generous portions. The indoor seating area is a bit small, but the outdoor patio looks wonderful and inviting when the weather is nice. Ordering at the counter felt a bit awkward, but the food was delivered to our table.

This restaurant has gone down hill steadily after moving to their current location. A decade ago, the food was fresh and homemade but that is not the case anymore.. The ?shawarma? served is not shawarma and seems to be some sort of frozen processedproduct that is warmed up then chopped up to try to mask this. I would bet that there is no shawarma spit in the kitchen at all.The fries are pretty clearly frozen store bought and do not taste fresh at all. Pretty bad sign if you can?t cut up potatoes anddrop them in the fryer. Food has continuously become more expensive over time while quality has declined. The food is mostlystore bought and then assembled in the kitchen. It is certainly edible but hard to justify the cost for most people in yolocounty for what it is. The food at east Med chain fast food restaurants like The kebab shop is much better. Sad to see.

Some of the best beef shawarma I've ever had, it reminds me a lot of the gyros I grew up eating! They serve the shawarma on rice or on a pita bread, both ways are great though and have their pros and cons. I usually just get both lol. My wife usually ordersthe chicken shawarma which is fantastic as well, a lot of the same flavor is there but it's a little less seasoned than thebeef.
