We were a group of 10 people who went to Espaniola in Darmstadt on a Sunday and were very disappointed with the Sunday system. You pay a fixed price and are the... read more We were a group of 10 people who went to Espaniola in Darmstadt on a Sunday and were very disappointed with the Sunday system. You pay a fixed price and are then brought small plates of various tapas to your table, which sounds good at first. In practice, however, it felt like only half of our group ever received anything, so not everyone could try everything, and the portions were generally very small. We were particularly irritated when dessert was suddenly served, and it was clear that no more tapas were coming—by this point, several of us were still hungry. In hindsight, we would have been much better off if everyone had ordered something from the regular menu and ordered more as needed. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the restaurant under these circumstances, especially not for larger groups. We jokingly mentioned at the beginning that there was a pizzeria across the street if we didn 't get full—and in the end, that wasn 't such a far-fetched idea. In our opinion, there are better places in Darmstadt if you want to spend a relaxed evening with good food and not be annoyed afterwards.

The idea sounded promising, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations in practice. During the meal, several times not everyone at the table received their own dish or plate, so we sometimes had to share. Despite this, everyone still had to pay the full price, which we felt was unfair. Additionally, some dishes were repeated, and some even appeared two or three times, making the menu quickly monotonous. For a considerable amount of time, the table was covered in empty plates that weren't consistently cleared, creating a rather messy impression. We also noticed that different dishes were being served at the next table, even though the concept was supposed to be identical—this was quite confusing. The value for money was particularly disappointing. Hardly anyone at our table left feeling satisfied, and we all left feeling like we were on an empty stomach. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant. In our view, there are significantly better, more relaxed concepts in the Rhine-Main area with a more coherent offering and fairer prices.

Unfortunately, the kitchen performance was inconsistent that evening. The service was inattentive even though the restaurant was only half full. Nevertheless, we'll be back when we feel like fish.
