While some were disappointed by the lack of variety and quality of food, others found the sandwiches and scones to be enjoyable. The service was described as slow by some, while others praised the attentive staff. The ambiance of the hotel was a positive highlight, with some guests mentioning the pleasant atmosphere and view. Overall, the Kings Head Hotel's afternoon tea seems to be hit or miss, with some areas that may need improvement to provide a consistently satisfying experience for all guests.
The down stairs bar would not be my choice for afternoon tea. The upstairs bar has a far better outlook and more comfortable.
Everything at the hotel was excellent, food, service, ambience, and very good value for money.
My first time at The Mercure restaurant I was extremely disappointed. It was my 40th birthday and decided to go for afternoon tea with my family. Unfortunately the sausage rolls and scones were very undercooked. Sandwiches looked messy and not well presented at all. I did receive a little discount but it did spoil the occasion. The restaurant looked lovely and was very quiet but I unfortunately won’t be going back.
As a raging cider head you can guess my opinion on this place.
When my friend Michelle said there was a cider pub on a boat, I knew I had to come here.
