Like 90% of the Australian and New Zealand expats in London, we can chat for hours about our adventures on the continent. Whether they're looking for travel suggestions, restaurant tips, or just some good old-fashioned storytelling, we've got it covered. But when it comes to British cuisine, some of us may struggle to provide recommendations. View all feedback.

Sometimes I question if I am a bit crazy. Is it really worth driving 600 miles round trip just to dine out? But then again, tucked away in the quaint hamlet of Summerhouse near Darlington, lies the Northeast of England's first and only two Michelin star restaurant. The idea of driving for five hours just to experience this level of dining may seem a bit extreme, but once you taste the food, it all makes perfect sense... View all feedback.
This restaurant is a hidden treasure. It is a fantastic 2-Michelin starred restaurant located in the picturesque village of Summerhouses. The service is attentive, the menu is excellent, and the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, making for a high-end dining experience. Although we did not stay overnight since we live nearby, I'm sure the rooms are just as exceptional as the restaurant. Thank you to James, Maria, and the entire team for a wonderful experience! We came specifically for the dining experience, as this restaurant is rated as a 2 Michelin Star establishment, and we were not disappointed. From appetizers to desserts, it was a culinary journey with flavors exploding in our mouths! The tasting menu was absolutely amazing, especially when paired with the wine which enhanced the entire experience. We recommend pairing the menu with the wine to fully appreciate the flavors. Our sommelier was outstanding and knowledgeable, as well as pleasant and friendly. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. The ambiance was exceptional, with only a few tables creating a cozy and fabulous evening. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough and will definitely be returning. Bravo James and Maria! The food and drinks were top-notch, simply fabulous!
We went to commemorate my partner's 50th birthday and were seeking a special experience – and that's exactly what we got. Wow! The rooms, service, and location all scored a perfect 5 out of 5. Highlights of the hotel include luxury accommodations and a tranquil atmosphere.
Food is of course amazing, tried hard not to compare with other Micheline star restaurants I ate before. The decor is too bright and cleache, we understand that we asked for substitutes and they kindly did provided for most part of the menu, I think that would have cost them more hence they didn't give us one dish, would have appreciated if they had substituted with another small dish or could have atleast given complementary water (water isn't cheap . The food is a great experience, world course is amazing faultless. Can't say the same for the signature dishes (may be not for my pallet . When it's 2 stars it's not just about food it's also about the whole experience. For a 2 Micheline star and at that price point, you would expect it to blow you away, but it comes a bit underwhelming, I must say. But definetly an experience, If you can you must try this place worth the drive and a visit.
