The food here is absolutely amazing. My table shared corn fritters, roti, pineapple fried rice, red curry, and ginger stir fry. The corn fritters and pineapple fried rice were everyone's favorite, and I encourage people to try both. The other dishes were good as well, overall a very delicious meal. View all feedback.
What Tate Jakubowski dislikes about Kindness Cafe:
Unfortunately, it appears the owner cares nothing about the quality of the food, and the chef even less. The same selection of frozen veg thrown into every dish, along with uncooked tofu. Huge slabs of uncooked eggplant. Burnt tofu cakes. The only discernable flavour: sweet. When ordering curry, you're asked of you want it hot, medium or mild. If you choose hot, they charge you extra. Excellent - really good vegetarian Thai food, + thoughtful kindly service - also no long wait for meal. Highly recommended. (I don't know why these reviews need to be at least 140 characters - life is short.)
This restaurant offers up fresh, delicious and filling food with a Thai inspired cuisine. All dishes are vegan and vegetarian with plenty of gluten free options. The location is ideal tucked in between other buzzing restaurants in a courtyard in Darlinghurst. Choosing starters was difficult as there are many tempting options on the menu. We went for the rice paper rolls and the corn fritters. The rice paper rolls were filled with mushrooms, tofu, carrot and cucumber and served with two delicious sauces - peanut and sweet chili. The corn fritters had four servings and despite being fried were perfectly light and combined well with the sweet chili dipping sauce. For mains we had peanut stir fry and a green curry both with organic tofu. The vegetables in both these dishes were extremely fresh and despite there being no meat they were very filling and great value at less than $20 a dish. The green curry had the perfect amount of spice and the sauce was delicious with rice. I usually don't order desserts at Asian restaurants but it's a must at kindness cafe. The dessert roti is served with maple, honey and cinnamon sugar and is great for sharing. My absolute favorite was the black sticky rice with warm coconut milk - superb! Grab yourself some friends and a bottle of wine and head to Kindness cafe for some deliciously fresh Thai food.
