A small, unassuming Japanese restaurant in Darlinghurst has been winning over the locals for years with its no-frills, yet delicious offerings. While some may find the space a bit cramped and not overly clean, the affordable prices and generous portions keep customers coming back. Despite the lack of posh decor and table service, the simple and warm food options are perfect, especially on a rainy day. Was Mark T at Don Don a mag?
Such a brilliant little Japanese restaurant. I have been a few times now and they never disappoint. The staff are lovely. Can get a bit crowded but worth waiting for a table. Very reasonable prices. Took 4 friends last time and they all liked it and a few have gone back. View all feedback.
What Peter R dislikes about Don Don:
I ate with 3 Japanese friends. Embarrassing for them and me. Cluggy Rice, Tasteless Food. We had to ask for more condiments. Staff are not Japanese cooking and flavours are dreadful. Avoid it. View all feedback.
My new best value restaurant in Sydney. $10.50. You just never know what is around the corner in this city.. and this place, literally a block from where I eat all the time, is an absolute rock star. Firstly, very Japanese and a very authentic vibe. It's a small place but feels really cosy and the service is very friendly and excellent. Given the name of this place I had to try the Don. I went with the chicken katsu don. Given my lofty expectations, the dish did not disappoint - damn that Don is good! Perfectly (seriously perfectly) soft rice. Moist, juicy chicken covered in a beautifully crisp crumb. And all covered in a soy/sugar egg mixture lightly fried and draped over everything. The pickled ginger is like the icing on top of a cake, so good. I want to go back and have another bowl right now! Get there
Cute little Japanese restaurant. Food is very well priced for what you get. The food was very satisfying and I have no complaints on the quality and service :)
Very good value Japanese food. This place is not fancy. Its basic Japanese food don't reasonably well at a cheap price. Food 3.5/5 Value 5/5
