I love this place. Absolutely delicious home style Mexican food. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The Mi General plate and Tacos al Carbon are excellent. Also, quite inexpensive for a lot of food. Highly recommended. View all feedback.
What SrgnFsh doesn't like about Los Potrillos:
This used to be our favorite Mexican in town. Unfortunately the last time we were there, it left a lot to be desired. The drink we had was watered down and the food was not good. It is a shame, but we will not go back. View all feedback.
They said the drinks were great, but we pd $9.25 ea for a cup of ice with margaritas mix poured over it....NOT GREAT...maybe worth $3 ea at a stretch!
Superlative New Mexican dining experience. I was just blown away by the number of interesting menu options and the food quality. The restaurant itself is very unassuming, 20 30 old school Mexican wood tables chairs with an open kitchen. The service is very friendly, prompt and informative. There were so many tempting options on this menu one of the most diverse I've seen in Santa Fe. My wife opted for the Cabrito soup OMG, rich beefy broth covering a huge portion of shredded meat served with a very spicy, addictive hot sauce and charro beans. My meat lover was in heaven. I opted for the Quesabirra it was incredible (a little greasy, but you expect that with this dish), delicious grilled meat (I think it was lamb) tucked into 4 small cheesy tacos ready to be dipped into the beefy birria. Folks, don't let the plain exterior fool you, this place is serving first class food and I very much look forward to my next visit I'm gonna order the grilled cabrito!!
Not what I expected. Very plain Mexican food for my taste, and the enchilada sauce was more like pasta sauce.
The food is always delicious, I had the Costillas Carrilleras Asadas and they were delectable! I didn't order a cocktail because I was driving, but some people next to us did and they looked amazing! The service is outstanding.
Ok, so first off, our server was amazing. My husband ordered the ribs, and they were amazing.... I ordered the menudo. I absolutely love menudo and saw that some reviews said it was amazing here. I've grown up eating great grandma's and grandma's menudo, so I know it well. I thought it tasted a little off, but just added my seasonings and had about 4 or 5 bites. Then I bit into a piece of tripe and it tasted like bile. Straight bile (poop). I spit it out..... fast forward 15 minutes after leaving, and I'm vomiting violently on the side of the road. I spent the next 3 days sicker than I've ever been. It was the worst case of food poisoning. It was our anniversary trip so I was so sad and just miserable. I think their other food was probably fine but they didn't clean the tripe properly and I unfortunately suffered for days.
