Was User at Seledonia's Mesa a mag?
I never had alpaca meat before, but this dish had some of the most tender meat I have ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection and perfectly pink in the middle. The entrada we had was quinoa-crusted chicken served with strawberry sauce which was a very nice crunchy surprise. The prices are lower than you would expect with this quality. 10/10 would recommend. What User dislikes about Seledonia's Mesa:
Fui con mi novio, él ordenó chupe de quinoa y yo alpaca a la plancha esperamos durante una hora para que nos digan que la carne de alpaca estaba en camino, se iban a demorar y que si podría cambiar de plato, así que lo cambie por un saltado de alpaca debo aceptar que ambos platos estuvieron delicioso y muy bueno pero la espera de una hora y más... malogró el momento View all feedback.

... you know you have to visit this restaurant. We booked a cooking class with Seledonia: wonderfull: first you visit a true local market (not San Pedro!) which is already quite an experience. And then you start cooking. Really nice! And excellent food. We learned to cook quinoa soup and ceviche. And pisco sour offcourse. She's warm, welcoming and a true excellent cook. We can strongly recommend her place.
I love Seledonia's new restaurant. She's bringing the tastes of traditional plates to a higher level. It's a very good place to try typical Peruvian dishes prepared with love. The alpaca a la plancha is delicious and she makes the nicest juices as well. I also tried cuy (guinnea pig) here and would recommend it. You can make a reservation with Seledonia and she will have it prepared at the hour you like, because to prepare it fresh it takes like an hour. They also have a lunch menu for 15 soles with soup, main dish and drink included.
On a recent trip to Cusco, Peru, I hosted a final dinner for a group of women I was leading. My goal was to find a restaurant that not only served good food but also supported a good cause! Mama Seledonia's provided the perfect combination! The restaurant's menu offered a variety of entree choices. Group members were excited about the bacon wrapped alpaca rolls, quinoa crusted chicken and trout served with a passion fruit glaze. No one was disappointed with their choice. Each of the entrees was delicious and presented beautifully. The Pisco Sours were delicious and the wine and beer choices did not disappoint! Dinner was memorable but the rest of the story enriches the experience beyond just having a meal. Mama Seledonia graciously spoke to our group after dinner. She shared that early in her life, she was a single mother. Working in various restaurants and a couple of private homes helped hone her skills as a chef. Her dream was to have her own restaurant and help other women in difficult situations. A local banker's willingness to loan Seledonia money enabled her to open her own restaurant Mama Seledondia. Beyond the delicious food Seledonia serves her guests, her dream involves providing employment to single mothers. From personal experience, Seledonia understands how difficult it is to work when child care is an issue. Therefore, her mission is not only to provide women with work but also to assist in providing quality childcare. Seledonia's smile, hospitality, culinary gift, leadership skills and compassion for others creates a dining experience that is unforgettable! I can't wait to return in 2019 with Ripple Effect Journey travelers for my next meal at Mama Seledonia!
We were a group of 23 people who had made a reservation in advance. Nevertheless the staff was absolutely not prepared. We waited more than one hour for the drinks, they still did not deliver a pisco sour, a strawberry lassi and a banana lassi btw it took them over 45 minutes to realize they were out of mango lassi . Meanwhile the guest at the other table already got their second drinks. The food Alpaca in wine sauce and Alpaca a la pimiento would have been okay, unfortunately they were not able to deliver the meat medium, additionally there was too much salt ? involved. When finally I got my pisco sour, the glass was half the size of the other pisco sours on the table of course, the price was the same . Would not recommend, would not go there again.
