My best friend and I stopped to have dinner here. I'm not local, but all of my paternal relatives are. Every trip I've made to the area, I've passed by here and was excited to try this restaurant. The waitress seemed like she had an attitude from the moment she walked to our table. When I asked her how one of their dinners were made and what ingredients were in it, she told me she didn't know, she didn't know what I meant, and it was homemade. She never offered to go ask the cook. My best friend ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce. She was brought spaghetti and meatballs. I ordered a crab cake dinner. It smelled like fish and tasted like it had salmon in it. The serving for mashed potato was about the size of an ice cream scoop. And the tartar sauce tasted odd. The waitress wasn't very attentive, and never offered us or asked if we wanted dessert, so we assumed they didn't have any. We saw the case of desserts on our way out. I enjoy traveling and trying different places to eat. I try to be very understanding, but I was very disappointed all the way around with this one. We went to D'Atri's Restaurant for dessert. It was wonderful in all aspects.
This is a great little americana restaurant. I?ve gotten several different dishes both dine in and to go and they?ve always been absolutely delicious. Call location is fantastic right in the Narrows near lovers Leap. The staff is friendly courteous andfast and the restaurants always very clean. This restaurant is pretty iconic!
I visit the Cumberland area several times per year but had yet to dine at Klines so I decided to try it out. When you walk in the front entrance, you have to turn right in the vestibule and open a second door to enter the dining area. The first viewupon walking through that second door is of a counter setup such as what one would see in a diner with stools. The dining areaswith traditional tables and booths are located in separate rooms beyond the counter area. The atmosphere was casual and itappeared that the restaurant is popular with locals as several customers were seated at the counter area and were conversingwith one another and with the staff. A reversable sign upon entering the dining area can display 'please seat yourself ' or 'please wait to be seated ' The seat yourself ' option was displayed upon my arrival so I selected a table within view of thecounter area. I was greeted within a couple minutes of seating and was offered a menu and asked for my drink selection. Mydrink was brought within a minute glass of ice water) The server also mentioned the daily specials available in addition tothe menu items. I ordered chicken rice soup and baked haddock with baked potato, roll and dish of applesauce. The soup wasbrought first and dinner was brought within 10 minutes. The meal was quite good and I ordered a slice of what looked to behomemade pie....lemon meringue...which was good as well. To sum up, I liked my dining experience at Klines, liked the casual Mom and Pop local restaurant feel, the service was prompt and friendly and I shall return on future visits to the area.
