Fish - Cuckfield
Fish
Description
Cuckfish has garnered a mix of responses, reflecting the highs and lows of dining experiences. While many patrons praise the generous portions and quick, friendly service, others express disappointment with food quality and customer interactions. Instances of cold dishes, hair in meals, and inadequate online information have marred experiences for some. However, the light, crispy fish and delicious curry sauce remain standouts for many, fostering a loyal customer base. Overall, Cuckfish is seen as a solid local option with potential, although consistency in food quality and service may need attention to maintain its reputation.

The fish is good, a nice light crisp batter. The chips are ok. Curry sauce is Devine. Generous portions. However I can’t justify £19.35 for a ref haddock/chip/curry sauce side given the pub a few doors down sells a full sit down meal for £17.50. In short, good food but it costs silly money.
The young lady behind the till managed to maintain a happy smile despite constant haranguing from the main chef. He didn’t stop shouting at his colleagues or his customers. I think if I had to work a shift with him he’d end up with a deep fried hand. Speaking of deep fried, the chips could’ve done with a bit more of that! Pale and soggy. The scampi was just a weird glob of fishy gloop inside a breadcrumb shell, definitely not top quality whole tail. The battered sausage was alright and my sons cod bites were really greasy. Compared to the fantastic food and service we used to get from the weekly van this just isn’t up to scratch. Most people seem to like it but I don’t think I’ll bother returning.
