We had dinner at Maximo Bistro last week. Food was delicious, service was cordial and efficient. Beautiful interior. I had a leg of lamb dish that was excellent. My wife had an asparagus dish with hollandaise as a starter and Wagyu beef as a main course. Both were excellent. I see from other reviews that opinions were mixed on the pepper ice cream dessert. I liked it. We drank a very nice Pinot Noir from Mexico. So,... View all feedback.
What Timothy J doesn't like about Maximo Bistrot Local:
High expectations and sky high prices, but the result was a pretty middling fine dining experience. We did really enjoy an ahi tuna appetizer that we got — one of the best I’ve ever had. However most of the other dishes were just some flavor of decent. Service was fairly attentive but not particularly professional. It was a fine experience but not worth planning our whole day around View all feedback.
My family went here recently on a visit to Mexico City. The restaurant had been recommended to my son by friends. It was nice to go to a different neighborhood than the one in which we were staying. The restaurant itself was very beautiful. We went on a Tuesday night and it ended up being full . We all enjoyed our meals. Some of the dishes we had included the organic BBQ fried chicken, the tagliatelle with beef tail ragout, the duck and the red snapper. For dessert we shared the french toast and the chocolate caviar cake with pink pepper ice cream. i am a chocolate lover but the french toast was much better. The waiter told us to order it. i didn't like the pink pepper ice cream on the chocolate caviar cake and the cake itself was just all right. The fried chicken appetizer was wonderful as was the tagliatelle that I had for my main course. I have no idea why some recent reviews gave this restaurant low marks. I would be happy to dine here again.
