Very cool place with good decor. Decent food and service. It’s right in the center, so priced accordingly. Very attentive staff.
Every time I visit this city I make sure I stop by this classic bar for a drink or two. The ambiance alone makes you step back in time with its elegance and wonderful staff. Look up to the ceiling where Pancho Villa shot a hole back in 1914. I brought my mother here and she loved it the minute she stepped inside.
Originally, because of the decor of La Opera, I thought I had to have drinks and dinner here. Then travels threw us one of those curve balls as sometimes happens and suddenly we needed a place for lunch. And so it is we wound up here at the stroke of opening for a seriously incredible meal. The layout of the place means every seat feels special. The gilded age decor is reminiscent of Paris or Vienna. And the food! Wow! The food! We started with the chicken and rice soup. Then my husband had the enchiladas in green sauce while I had enchiladas mole. Everything was fresh, clean and delicious. I’m sure at night this place is super lux-cool. But don’t hesitate to enjoy lunch here. It’s outstanding!
I met up with my son for the F1 Grand Prix and I found the La Opera on your website. We walked past it during the day so I knew where it was. I met up with my son who is 28 and we had a great time. we actually came here twice and had both Bar snacks and a full meal. There was a Mariachi if that interests you but we were there for an evening together. we had a great time and this is on my list of places to visit next time I am in Mexico City.
The memory, the melancholy, the revolution of Mexico is all that and more what this magical place surrounds you, with its delicious exotic dishes such as chipotle snails, Los Machitos, Los Gusanos de Maguey. This exclusive place is excellent to enjoy a mezcal with worms, a good beer and a good tequila. And why not talk about Pancho Villa's bullet that is still in this place that was inaugurated in 1895.
