Chiles en nogada is an emblematic dish of Mexican food that is normally found in restaurants from August to December because of the difficulty to find all the ingredients necesary to make this very complicated recipe. This restaurant has them all year. For those that enjoy this famous dish, this restaurant is a must. Menu is quite extensive and includes many other alternatives. Not cheap but fairly priced View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Hosteria de Santo Domingo:
Be warned the restaurant is on the cusp of a sketchy area even while not far away from Zocalo. The food seems decent, but what is less than impressive is the indifferent, careless, slowwwww service that one gets. It gets to the point it feels ofensive. If you are willing to put up with this while consuming slightly above average tasting traditional Mexican food, this is your place. View all feedback.
Oh my god, I had the best tableside hot chocolate and breakfast mol in my life! I love to start the free baked as well! incredible ambiente and beautiful decor- what a wide!
When we finally found this restaurant (we were too foot) in the leading role, it was such a disappointing time. service was terrible, eating was served cold and no seasoned except salt and soup. fish was good, but the tomato soup and other seasoned. it was difficult to get the real taste. carne asada should never be prepared or served. real disappointment for us.
We decided to go here despite some uncertain reviews and were pleasantly surprised. Food is very good, and the atmosphere takes you back to a Mexico city that doesn't exist in many places anymore, especially in the touristy Centro Historico of CDMX. Staff were friendly...and food was tasty, and plenty! If you come bu car, you could even park in the car park across the road and get a free coupon for your parking!
A traditional Mexican restaurant, serving well flavoured food. Wide choice of dishes available. Try the Chiles en Nogada traditionally served in September I have been told but available all year round at this restaurant. Good service. Interesting decor with mural, stained glass window and papel...picado hanging from ceiling. We returned a second time and singer and pianist were performing both nights which added to the atmosphere.
