Wanted tacos, thunderstorm outside, guess what, they deliver! Spoke English with restaurant, had hotel staff confirm order in Spanish, Tacos showed up 30 minutes later with small delivery charge. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Califa:
I had read such great reviews for this restaurant so was expecting big things. Whilst the service was super quick and good was good, I think the reviews are definitely way over the top! It's a tourist haven and has a real fast food chain feel to it. Personally I have preferred eating from the street vendors or smaller taquerias for a more authentic Mexico City eating experience! Beautifully guided, clean, bright facilities at some locations in the city. I was there at 2 o'clock for lunch, and the place has only one or two tables that are empty in the round. I haven't had the whole feeling for the menu concept... because I was on two things zero. I've got the bistec, I'm gonna cost you a cactus salad. the cactus salad was the best I ever had, where the refreshment light with great dressur obviously only made in the morning. the tacos were common and interesting, it is just a piece of hardly any seasons flat steak, paper thin on a tortilla. which raises the arome to world class, are the use of the five or six bites that bring them to the table. service was simply good, the location in palanca was pleasant, and it was a great lunch for the price. would I come back? but of course
Eating was very small and expensive, the service was slow and terrible. personally, I recommend eating in a street vendor.
Our last evening, my son wanted pastor for dinner. Our concierge at the St. Regis kindly suggested the best was within walking distance. What a wonderful and filling meal. Alcoholic beverages were limited but we made do and the food was excellent. Don't miss this...if you love pastor.
Very good food, excellent friendly smiling service. Not much English, but free wifi ... so just translate. We had tacos rib eye and crepe caramel. Very good selection of cervesas. Place was humming with activity mid afternoon, clearly a neighbourhood favourite.
Great tacos!!! The place gets crowded, the food was delicious, we tried the pastor, arrachera and chuleta tacos. Fried panela cheese and guacamole to begin was a good option.
