Arkwright's Cafe - Cromford

What a great place to visit, the birthplace of the modern factory system before them, a very competent guide, interesting industrial archaeology, friendly voluntary (especially in the very comprehensive gift shop, other beautiful small shops (including garnish and cheese). the mill in the process of restoration, so I will rethink in the coming years. they can also get the scenic channel down to high peak crossing and the aqueduct and pumping house a good day out, I can recommend the scones!

Brilliant day at ta mill antiques fair was a bit drab but everything else was top dog then I went for a walk along the canal was an excellent day will definitely go again

After many years visiting Derbyshire today we visited Cromford Mill. It was amazing. The work undertaken can be seen and you can feel the history. Couldn't do the Sir Richard Arkwright exhibition which was a shame as it was shut but tbh just looking at where the old water wheel once stood and feeling its history was enough. A few little Antique shops and a nice cheese shop with various condiments dotted around the courtyard plus a cafe were all nice editions. You can see that this is a labour of love in the restoration and its still ongoing..We parked in the lock car park opposite and then took a lovely walk along the canal bank. It was a lovely fresh autumnal day finished of with hot chocolate and lemon drizzle cake. I really liked the feel of Cromford Mill and its industrial history. Shame Masson Mill is now closed another one of Sir Richard Arkwright's Mills converted to shops which in all honesty I felt was a shame as this holds so much history!!!!!

Met with our grandchildren here for the Christmas Market.. They thoroughly enjoyed looking around the old mill and we then went to the canal
