I can honestly say I have never had a burger as good in Crestline. I ordered the Lake Shore Burger and Fries. I can honestly say I have never had a burger as good in CRESTLINE. I ordered the Lake Shore Burger and Fries. The Bun is great, and not a usual Burger Bun more of a roll that held up to the messy juicy goodness. It was well worth the money Burger was cooked well... seasoning came through but not over powering. OBVIOUSLY Fresh ingredients. Fair amount of Fries that were also perfectly seasoned (No need for any salt packets) and were good enough to eat without Ketchup. I too would like to see the Cove open without the need to pay $8.00 cover charge. IN addition, it would be nice to see the cove open longer and outside the season, It will be a shame to see CRESTLINE's BEST HAMBURGER not be served after the season is over.
Cove Cafe is the new restaurant at Lake Gregory Regional Park on the north shore. It is open from 12 6 on Thursdays to Sundays when the Waterpark is open. They are also open on Saturday nights with no entrance fee to the beach) from 7 10PM for the Summer Concert Series. You order from a a couple of windows and pick up your food at another. You can eat on the beach, at the picnic tables in front of the cafe or on the deck with a lakeview. The gal who took our order was very friendly, but the person doing order delivery at the other window was bordering on surly. The other dig on this place is that they are slow to produce the food about 15 minutes of standing around). However, the food is pretty good and super convenient if you are using the park. We had: Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese Burger $10.95 plus $2 if you want 2 slices of bacon): a beautiful and fresh ciabatta bun has a 5 oz. ground beef patty made from good quality meat and is topped with romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, caramelized onions, crumbled blue cheese, and the house sauce, which is almost like a ketchup paprika mayo. The burger is very good, but it was delivered medium well rather than the requested rare. However, because of its smallish size on a comparatively huge bun), the burger stayed moist and was well seasoned. DH loved the bacon on his burger, which I skipped on mine. It was served without about a dozen onion rings that were super crisp and tasted housemade. You can get ketchup and mustard for free, but you have to pay for ranch dressing $0.25). I would skip the ranch...it was not worth the extra money. I would say that it is a 3 star burger with 4+ star onion rings not the best that I have ever had but they were VERY good and VERY generous). For $11, I don't think that this is a bad deal. Honey Battered Turkey Corn Dog $5): a delicious and good sized turkey dog in a honey cornbread batter that is fried to golden perfection and is served with what appear to be house cut french fries. The corn dog was really good. The fries were a bit limp they were not fried long enough in the fryer but they were enjoyed by those who like fries which I do not). Overall, I would definitely recommend coming to the Cove Cafe if you are at the Lake Gregory Waterpark. The food is really good quality and fairly priced for that quality. And, fortunately, you don't have to deal much with the staff, because you take it to go. I'm a fan. I only wish that there was a way to get a burger when you don't want to hang out at the beach! They should have a food pass arm band!
