The University Club of WA restaurant and bar has been recently renovated - enhancing its spaciousness, light and contemporary style. The broad outlook to the Swan River, campus ovals and buildings contribute to a sense of unique ambience. This is a wonderful location for an al la cart or "express" business lunch.Judy and I have been back on several occasions for the business lunch. It is excellent. We had the creamy forest mushroom risotto with charred grilled garlic bread and salad plus a glass of wine - for $30 per head. Outstanding value! The risotto was a generous serve, full of mushroomy flavour without being over powering. It had a lovely texture - neither dry or soupy - just right! The tempura fried vegetables on top were novel, crispy - a nice addition to the dish. The Club restaurant has evolved over 10 years into what is now the leading 'club' restaurant venue in Western Australia, confirmed by many industry awards. It is a very high quality dining destination all-round in terms of the environment food and service. We love returning to the UWA Club on a regular basis.
Quick dinner in here before a show did not disappoint. Attentive and friendly staff, nice atmosphere. The night we were here there was a 2 piece band which was lovely. The prices are not too bad at all for decent amount of meat, around $30 for a main. The pork belly was good but extremely hard to eat given how crunchy the crackling was; not the best I've had in Perth but good flavours.
It's a club so you need to be a member, but fabulous facility for the University staff, friends and business associate s

We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the bar before being shown to our table. Our ordered bottle of wine was already on the table and delicious complimentary garlic bread was brought to the table together with water while we studied the menu. We had a choice of eating from the al la carte menu or the special Christmas menu. We all chose the Christmas menu. An amuse bouche was delivered to our table - again delicious. It was a 3 course menu but you could order just a main or 2 courses if you preferred. Our starter was beautifully presented and tasted as good - smoked trout, lovely big prawns, aioli, cherry tomatoes etc. The main course of turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potato and cranberry gravy was served with a big dish of fresh vegetables for the table. Again it was a feast. Several of us could not manage a dessert but those that did said the Christmas pudding was well worth making room for. Service was attentive, the ambience peaceful and best of all the carpet on the floor and other soft furnishings kept the room quiet enough for the group round the table to hear the conversation. Find yourself a club member and get them to take you here.
