This newly refurbished pub, which will soon being doing food again, was a great place to be on 31 Dec 2017 01 Jan 2018 The bar staff were a great and happy bunch who kept up a great service throughout the night. There was a mixture of locals visitors in the bar and everyone was very enthusiastic for the new look and feel of the pub. There seemed to be a sense of relief that the village had its ‘local’ back! What DesignerWoman doesn't like about Hare And Hounds Public House:
I guess the sign on the door asking walkers to remove their boots before they enter the bar should have given me the clue that this pub was not a good place for walkers. As I was a tired and hungry walker doing the Pennine Way for charity, I didn't have the energy to take my boots off. I decided to perch on one of his completely empty outside tables away from the door to eat my packed lunch and think about whether I... View all feedback.
I decided to stop by this restaurant on my way home because I didn't feel like cooking on a Sunday evening. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, with nice decor, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a delicious meal that was well cooked and presented, exactly what I was craving. It was just perfect for me. I will definitely be returning and recommend this restaurant to anyone reading this review.
If you are looking for great food, this is the place to go!! This was our second time visiting and once again the food was excellent!!

There was a mixture of locals visitors in the bar and everyone was very enthusiastic for the new look and feel of the pub. There seemed to be a sense of relief that the village had its ‘local’ back! The beer was good and the bar staff were a dab-hand at cocktails too! Being just off the Pennine Way it’s great place to stop for a rest some refreshment be it alcohol or beverage. I believe they have a nice garden terrace out the back which will be nice to sit out on later in the year.
Nipped in for a drink with family, the pub has just been refurbished and looks amazing, staff very friendly with log burner on and Christmas tree up. Black sheep was a nice pint, and I believe There doing food early next year so defiantly worth a visit.
As my dad isn 't on TripAdvisor, I am writing on his behalf. My mum and dad were out walking and they were looking forward to a bowl of soup and a pint. They were outside knocking mud off their boots when the landlord came out and told them there was no point in doing that as they have to take their boots off anyway because they have just had new carpets! Now, we all understand that no-one wants their new carpets spoiling and that muddy walking boots would mess them up. The point is that the landlord was very off-hand. Had he have asked nicely or been that little bit more polite, my mum and dad would have offered to take their boots off before they were asked. They put on their waterproofs and continued on their way. In this instance, the pub has lost business: not a whole loads but £15-£20s worth. In the current climate, surely no business wants that. In summary, For a landlord to speak in the way that he did to potential customer is really doing him no good whatsoever. If he treats all potential customers like this, no doubt the Hare and Hounds will become just another pub with a To Let sign hanging off the wall.
