First visit to the Bay Horse having driven past it hundreds of times. Popped in for a drink. It's a warm and cosy pub with a variety of seating arrangements and a real open fire. Plenty of car parking. Good choice of ales and a decent and varied food menu, though we didn't eat as we weren't hungry. Good friendly service from all the staff. Would come back and may eat next time. View all feedback.
What akhill doesn't like about Bay Horse Inn:
I came here for dinner, so that is what my rating reflects. It’s a nice enough pub with a reasonable selection of beers, but the kitchen staff had no idea how to cook a steak. It was grey and unseasoned; clearly the grill was not hot enough to start. They seemed to try to compensate the quality with quantity the blue cheese sauce I ordered came in a jug that must have had half a pint of the stuff. View all feedback.
I’m sorry but my opinion is that this is the worst restaurant in Yorkshire having no variety and horrible food
Booked for dinner for the last night of our canal holiday. Perfect way to finish the week. A warm friendly welcome from the waitress who couldn't do enough. Good choice of beer. And wow, the food was fantastic. Really good quality delivered quickly. Would highly recommended this pub by the canal if you are passing, or even just nearby.
Called with family for Sunday lunch and found pub welcoming with open fire burning and pleasant staff.food generally good however was served a burnt Yorkshire pudding and when pointed out nothing was done about it,other than that it does have good vegan selection which went down well with my nieces
Lovely weather, perfect for a spot of lunch outside, only to be told we hadn 't got enough staff but you can eat inside we had a drink outside then went else where to eat disappointed
Popped in for lunch with my wife and daughter on Saturday. Oh dear, what a dreadful mistake! It 's been ages since we came here, but I had always been a fan of all Vintage Inns but now I would think twice about any, and certainly won 't be back to the Bay Horse. After waiting ages for the food (about an hour and it wasn 't busy at all), we were served;Rump Steak Sandwich the steak was cold, pea shoot garnish was withered and drying up, looking like a pile of weeds after a day 's gardening. The steak was tough and chewy not overcooked just poor quality. The chips were hot, suggesting to me that they had somehow forgot them and that the sandwich had gone cold whilst they cooked the chips. Incidentally, we had wanted chunky chips but were only offered chips or salad so ended up with skinny fries.Fish Finger Sandwich again, the fish goujons were cold and the garnish was, well, dead! In addition, the goujons were really oily suggesting the fryer was not hot enough when they were cooked, but the chips were hot.Kids pasta a very small and boring portion of penne pasta with a bit of tomato sauce. The garlic flatbread was OK but overall this was not a suitable dish for an 8 year old, and very poor value at £5.We complained about the sandwiches being cold and the response was underwhelming. Did we want something else? We were assured that the sandwiches had come straight from the kitchen and hadn 't been sitting around blatantly untrue!Having wasted an hour and a half, and with a hungry (but patient) 8 year old to keep happy, we were not in a position to walk out let alone order again, so we finished our meal and when we went to pay received no apology.Looking around at the décor, this pub had gone from shabby chic to just shabby Afterwards my wife suffered from the oily food and felt queasy for what was left of our afternoon. In hindsight we would have received better food and service in the restaurant next door McDonalds! (and I am not a fan of that place)Really shocked...
