A perfect lunch stop right outside Volcanoes National Park. We had 3 different curries (avocado and panang favored over the massaman), noodles and avocado spring rolls with peanut sauce. All delicious! The truck is located on a side road outside the park. We ate right there in the car—didn’t see picnic tables and it was raining—and we thoroughly enjoyed it that way. Would definitely go back again. We left the park to... View all feedback.
What Alex Rah doesn't like about Tuk-tuk Thai Food Truck:
Food is good here;however, the service not as great. I gave the cashier 20% tip that came to $8 and he refused to give me an extra sauce on the side and still asked me to pay a $1 for the sauce( stingy on sauce).. why did I tip you? View all feedback.
Super friendly service and easy access. Food was a Volcano 5/5, a mainland 3.5/5. Solid, would definitely eat here anytime I’m in town. Pad thai was maybe a little sweet, but had nice lime and tamarind flavors, plus peanuts and bean sprouts. The penang curry was good, maybe a little bland, but I didn’t specify a spice level so that’s my fault. Big portions and very fresh.
We ordered the yellow curry, but added pineapple and carrots, spring rolls, and the pad Thai with shrimp. The yellow curry was absolutely DIVINE. Without the pineapple I think it would have been a little too plain, but with the additions it was fantastic. The spring rolls were just ok. I probably wouldn’t order them again. The pad Thai on the other hand wasn’t good. My husband actually didn’t even eat the rest of it because he felt it tasted so bad and he normally loves pad Thai. The portion sizes were good. The service was fast and the price was pretty on par for Hawaii. They told us it would be about a 20 min wait and it was. Overall, a good experience but maybe don’t order the shrimp pad Thai.
Awesome food and authentic thai. They were flexible with spice level as we were looking for very spicy food
BEST THAI FOOD EVER!! Oh my goodness, the food at this place is a must have!! I tried the sweet sour stir fry with shrimp, my fiancé had the Pad Kee Mao noodles…delicious!!! Their fried ice cream comes with banana lumpia and is so tasty! I have never had a dessert like it! Highly recommend this spot if you’re staying in Volcano or passing through!!
Love this food truck! Best food I’ve had in the island yet (5 days on the island and counting). So much flavor and GENEROUS portions (light eaters should share). We had Panang Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Thai, and Cashew stir fry and loved every bit of it. I wish this food truck was in my hometown!
