the food is good. the atmosphere is funky. most of the seating is outdoors. . the service is good but it can be slow when they are busy). the prices are very reasonable. i just wish you didn't have to eat with your hands. some of the offerings can be very sloppy. would it really ruin the authenticity of the ethiopian food if you had silverware? like i said, the food is good doesn't taste any better because you use yo... What bb organic doesn't like about The Soup Garden:
Ethiopian cuisine is one of my favorites, but finding good places to enjoy it is elusive. I went with a party of three and was the only vegetarian. Meat and non-meat dishes were served on the same platter, and I share responsibility for that mistake. It was hard to identify what was what. Some of the dishes were flavorful, others not so much. We had plenty to eat, but I have experienced better Ethiopian food in Washi... View all feedback.
We waited in line and ordered soup right at their window fairly quickly. We decided to get a few smaller options of soup so we were able to try a bunch of different flavors, and of course, had to try a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was fantastic! We really enjoyed it paired with some of the soups. The small portions of soup are great for one serving for one person. Our favorites were definitely the classic chicken noodle and baked potato. The others were good. We liked the cauliflower more than we thought and the Thai curry less than we thought. Overall, the experience was a good one. However, we're not frequent soup eaters so I can't say we'll be back regularly but it was a great place to stop in and try!
Best grilled cheese I’ve had outside of Mamaw’s house, and the tomato basil soup was dang good too.

Meat and non-meat dishes were served on the same platter, and I share responsibility for that mistake. It was hard to identify what was what. Some of the dishes were flavorful, others not so much. We had plenty to eat, but I have experienced better Ethiopian food in Washington, DC and the East Bay of California. The place had one other party that was getting most of the attention from wait staff. Granted, it was a big party, but it took a while to get their attention and to be served.

A little bit of a hectic operation inside, but darn good soup.
