I have to say my expectations were not high. but I was pleasantly surprised. service was good and eating also and nothing was too much annoyed. we sat in a room from the main pub and it was festively decorated. the staff was very courteous and friendly and for the price we paid, I couldn't owe it.

Thought we’d give it a try today for a Sunday... read more Haven’t been to the tollgate for some time as it had gone downhill with food quality, cleanliness, and slow staff. Thought we’d give it a try today for a Sunday carvery. The drinks came. Ginger ale ordered . Neither bottle opened. Lemonade and orange came unstirred . Today there were more staff and it definitely looks cleaner, but the food was poor. I had beef which was stringy and grisly. The sprouts were rock hard and the food looked like and tasted that it had been there for a week. In addition to that it was cold . Nil points from us. We won’t be going again .

The food is co... read more I am always impressed by the breakfast at The Tollgate. My family and I make sure to come here every Saturday for a perfect start to our weekend. The food is consistently delicious, the staff are attentive and friendly, there is ample free parking, and the atmosphere is relaxed compared to other places. Matt and Paula do a fantastic job running the restaurant, and it's always a pleasure to visit. While all the staff members are great, I have to give a special shoutout to Justin for his amazing sausages and bacon.
