When trying to think of somewhere local to the family to go for Sunday lunch, you do not need to go much further than The Civic Hall in Shildon. The place has been open for years and has gone through a few refurbishments in my time but it's always remained a cute and cheap little place to eat. The menu is simple but that's sometimes a good thing and it has firm favourites like gammon and chips etc through the week so... View all feedback.

Had hot buffet. Plenty of choice. But chicken was cold. One of our party as dairy allergy and wouldn't supply anything else for pud other than gateau . Great entertainment venue. Cheap drinks View all feedback.
I visited this lovely place on a Sunday with two sittings, and it was very busy. However, the staff were quick and served fresh, tasty food. The Sunday lunch was excellent and offered good value for the price.
The meal was decent, but the sweet chili dish was spicier than I remembered. The extensive menu made it difficult to decide on a dish quickly, so I would suggest offering a smaller menu with higher quality options instead.
If you're in the mood for a steak, this is the place to be! The atmosphere is laid-back and the bar area is tastefully decorated with leather couches. It's a great spot to unwind with a drink after enjoying our meal.

Been going to Civic now for quite a while and have always enjoyed the food . Called in last night after flying back from Spain , my partner always has the steak pie and I decided on a rump steak . My partner is a good cook so knows her stuff . She noticed the pie wasn't the same and thinks it's being bought in . The meat was terrible vegetables bland and gravy not the same standard as it was . My steak was chewy and the salad terrible . We are both disappointed and wonder if the original cook has left
