Description

The Kitchen, The Smokehouse, and The Pantry are three catering spaces at Westonbirt that have recently been refurbished by our catering partner, Fosters Events. The Kitchen serves delicious breakfasts, lunches, and a variety of locally sourced drinks and coffee, while The Pantry offers a 'grab and go' selection of cakes, sandwiches, sausage rolls, snacks, and cold drinks. The Smokehouse specializes in barbecue, grill, and pizza options, available on weekends, bank holidays, and during school holidays. All locations provide ample covered outdoor seating, with dogs welcome in outdoor spaces but not inside the main restaurant. The Pantry is conveniently located next to the children's play area for those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Please note that closing times can vary, especially during the winter months.

I enjoyed a pleasant stroll around the Arboretum and finished it off with a delicious coffee and cake at the restaurant. Unfortunately, while seated at a table near the register, I witnessed a man who appeared to be the manager speaking rudely and raising his voice to a woman and the staff. This made me feel uncomfortable, and I felt that the situation was inappropriate, so I checked on the woman to make sure she was okay. Despite the tasty cake, I felt that it was not worth the price.

We first became members of Westonbirt around 2001 and enjoyed visiting with our young children. The process of entry was simple and well-organized, with tickets shown at the entrance barrier. There were two cafes on the premises, one with outdoor seating for coffee and cake, and another larger restaurant with a decent menu and indoor tables. Over the years, there has been a decline in standards and service at Westonbirt. The Christmas event, which used to be well-delivered and planned, now feels lacking. Our most recent visit was disappointing, with slow service and high prices at the restaurant. Despite the excellent walks, we find the overall experience to be lacking compared to our early visits.

We frequently visit Westonbirt and love their delicious hot chocolate. However, we have noticed a decline in the staff and customer service in recent months. Even when there is no queue, it takes around 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. In our last few visits, we had to go to the coffee hut by the entrance instead, where the staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is a bit pricey, and the breakfast we had a month ago was small and lukewarm, arriving 40 minutes after ordering. It's disappointing because the restaurant is nice, but the staff need to be more welcoming and efficient.

Have been visiting for years and often stop for a coffee and sometimes breakfast. Sadly the cost as gone up a lot and the quality and amount of food gone down. On the plus side they have produced a small breakfast for nearly half the price of a full breakfast. The small one is plenty for most people…sausage, bacon, egg, beans, tomato and half slice of toast. The full breakfast however is not twice the amount of food ! The coffee is good and you get a decent size cup of it. Tea , they have recently reduced the size of the teapot. Shall not be eating there again as very expensive overall.e

We stopped at the restaurant after a lovely walk around the Arboretum. On first impressions the menu was extremely limited. The service was okay however the waitress did drop some of our food on the floor and did not apologise. Two of us ordered the pulled ham mac and cheese which had an unmelted block of blue cheese on the top which was vile. We both felt sick after eating. The jacket potato was cold on arrival which was disappointing. The sharing platter consisted of ‘freezer food’ such as chicken wings, onion rings and breaded mushrooms which were extremely watery and tasteless. Overall, I’d recommend bringing your own food or leaving the site and eat at pub in Tetbury.
