What a nice pub. welcome, good food and drink and cozy ambiente. perfect for a lazy late lunch after a hearty walk in the beautiful landscape and village where it sits. a long time favorite and never disappointed.
Big country pub. Currently there is a covid limited menu in operation, so a reduced offer awaits. it is not fast to eat, but it is not your usual pub fair either.
I cannot recommend this place enough! on Saturday after a day hike, we were looking for a Saturday afternoon, a bit worse for wear, we were greeted by the lovely bar manager who found us a table outside the garden and took our drink order while waiting for the kitchen to open. I ordered the bark cake that came with maic, kale and gravy and was cooked for perfection (the bark fell apart,) my friend ordered the sausage and maic, also delicious. the portions were good sizes and fulfilled our hunger after the day hike. we both left a smile on our faces after a nice dinner.
Nice cooked food, would highly recommend. the bark wellington was particularly delicious.
We visited The Bell at Sapperton on the last day of the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme, so were fully expecting a wait for our food (we had booked a table). The service was prompt, and we were seated outside, where we had a little gazebo to ourselves. Drinks were served quickly after ordering, and food was out much quicker than expected, and most importantly it was all utterly delicious. Very generous children's meals which went down a treat, and the burgers both my husband and I had were to die for. My only slight negative is that I wish we had been advised we'd be sitting outside, as we probably would've dressed slightly warmer, but in the end it really didn't matter. The children were thrilled to get a hot chocolate with dinner, and I found the little bit of warmth I wanted in a delightful glass of wine. All in all the experience was fabulous, and we'd love to visit again in the future.
