Great service, friendly staff and food tasted awesome!!!

The food here is delicious flavor, authentic BBQ, we are on our honeymoon and staying in ana Marie Island. Over priced with very little flavor restaurants. Drive over the bridge and enjoy good quality food. Fried pickles are the best we ever had. Bucket of bones with fried mac n cheese melts in your mouth. Waitress Susie is very attentive and good personality.

Pig Out opened up for the first time in 6 months since March 2020. It was about a mile from our resort and we decided to try it out. Our server was super nice and I ordered 3 tacos with chicken, pork and brisket. Really good! I ordered a smoked mullet, which I had never had. I didn't realize how large it was, but it was perfectly smoked. I scraped the meat off and it was nice and flakey. The beans and collard greens were perfect sides and it paired nicely with my Jai Alai IPA. Great lunch and I took home about 1/2 of it for a second meal of leftovers.

Firstly, the employees are very nice and welcoming. However, we were a little disappointed with Pig Out on Cortez Rd. We went for dinner on a Friday eve and the place was practically empty--which always makes me nervous as to the freshness of the food. Also, none of the staff were wearing masks! We wanted to turn and leave right then and should have. Give me a break! Every other business in town are wearing masks! On to the food: Catfish was slimy. Mac and cheese was clearly old and tasted like dish water. Some other items we had were good, tho. It wasn 't ALL bad. They have good BBQ. I just wonder about freshness. We 've eaten at their Cortez location (to-go and dine-in) and while it seems busier it still has given us intestinal issues after eating there on more than one occasion. Maybe it 's the sauce or fat content? I may give it another go for pickup as they do make decent BBQ. They need to wear masks and keep an eye on old side dishes that might be past their prime! If youre looking for good BBQ and are an anti-masker, than this is the place for YOU!

I was extremely disappointed. I thought I had finally found some great BBQ in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, but unfortunately, it was another failure. I'm not giving up though; I'm still on the hunt for that mouthwatering smoked BBQ in this region. The aroma was enticing, but the flavor did not live up to my expectations.
