Very pleas... read more We like long walks and on saturday we started our walk from the centre of Milan (Darsena Porta Ticinese) along the north side of the Naviglio Grande. Very pleasant walk in a sunny day. We got hungry as it was getting passed 13:00 hours and we crossed the Naviglio at the Parco Ex Area Pozzi and we stumbled into Pizzeria Sant'Elena which is a very tiny pizza delivery outfit run by Egyptians of Christian religion, presumably of Copt rite. They were surprised to see foreign people stepping into their shop. They were very welcoming and the quality of the pizza was outstanding and on the contrary of Egyptian pizza making tradition not too thin, it was a margherita with addition of ham and was very well cooked in a wood oven. The have a large menu of pizzas which sports also an unusual 8 Stagioni pizza which I never came across before. IF we would have walked a bit further we would have found the centre of Corsico town with the usual array of outfits where to eat something on the hoof, but we were starving and took the detour to Sant'Elena. Just to give an idea there are no normal tables but stools and high tables which accommodate both delivery boys and the few occasional clients. So if you are walking in the area and need some well made pizza this is where you want to stop.
