We were 2 foreig... read more We took a different route from Reggio Emilia to Pontremoli on a beautiful fall day. We were starving and pulled over to try Trattoria da Berto. We were 2 foreigners amongst all Italians on a Sunday afternoon. We were welcomed, kindly, and treated well. The server was excellent. She split our pastas for us so we could each have a little of the delicious dishes. A man the owner? came over and asked us where we were from in Italian, my friend speaks Italian ...We said USA and Belgium. He was so welcoming to us. He put two bottles of local liqueur down on our table with shot glasses. The food was excellent , the service was great and the welcome was warm....Go across the Passo del Cirone and stop and have a meal here ! You won't be disappointed.

The landlord, Giorgio, is always friendly, helpful and very sociable. Would definitely recommend stopping at this trattoria as it is within easy distance of beautiful walks and the sensational mountains.
