My sister was visiting from Florida, so we decided to try Sugartopia for her birthday. She was craving carrot cake, and it definitely lived up to her expectations! The place is charming, cozy, and delicious.

It wa... read more We had to pay $40 for the cake two weeks prior, which I thought was fine given my expectations. However, when my dad picked up the cake, I was devastated. It was clearly old, likely made a month prior—rock solid, dry, and completely flavorless. Not to mention, it was made with fondant, so my son couldn't even enjoy his smash cake. I called the bakery to express my disappointment, and one of the owners told me to bring it back for a refund. When I arrived, things took a turn for the worse. I was asked to wait for another owner, which took about 10 minutes. When she finally came out, she immediately stated that nothing was wrong with the cake and insisted it was perfectly fine. I showed her pictures of my son struggling to even poke it because it was so hard. In a bizarre move, she took the cake to the back, grabbed a fork, and started eating it, insisting it was fine. Other customers were staring in disbelief. I just wanted a refund and made it clear I wouldn't be back. An elderly couple nearby voiced their agreement with me, and in response, the owner began to cry and shake, as if my request for a refund was unreasonable. She then disappeared into a side room for about 10 minutes, leaving me and the other customers in an awkward silence. Some left after witnessing her meltdown. When she finally returned, she handed me the refund while muttering and being rude to herself. After receiving my money, I left the bakery feeling frustrated and disappointed. I have no intention of returning and have been telling everyone I know to avoid this place. If they treat long-time loyal customers this way, they don't deserve anyone's business.

Prices are slightly cheaper than the nearest Walmart (Cornelia) and it's simple, pure and out. People are really friendly.
