The sausgues were brunt but I didn't mind, when me and my mam got to our seats (the high up ones) there was crumbs and food left on the ground. The staff were very kind and nice though. But I do prefer the old Wilton restaurant.
We unexpectedly had our lunch today at the Wilton. The food was superbly great. We enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere.
Tried it Thursday night with three friends after the new owners spent quite a bit of money to make it look like a cheesy 1970s Irish bar . New staff enthusiastic and friendly. It seems to be a TV sports bar now, but maybe they were only showing the Masters. Food was grand, like. But what really killed the evening was the live music which was piped loudly through every speaker in the bar so you could not escape it, and it 's a big bar. We left early because we couldn 't talk without shouting. We weren 't the only ones to leave because of this.
We have so many good memories with family and friends in The Wilton from over the years and we will always miss the old Wilton. However, it’s clear that alot of work went into the revamp and overall I think it’s been very positive so far. Also, keeping the original mantle piece with the late founder’s name engraved was a touch of class by new management. Personally, I think more of a balance between the typical city centre bar and a suburban establishment is needed. For example, the live music acts and bouncer’s approach should be tweaked from those typical of a city centre bar. Wising new management all the best, we will be rooting for The Wilton’s success.
