Mcgettigan's Cookhouse - Cork
Mcgettigan's Cookhouse
Description
Despite mixed reviews, the restaurant offers a good menu with potential. The location and ambiance receive high praise, while the service is friendly but lacks training. Some dishes were disappointing, such as the garlic potatoes and chicken liver pate. However, the dessert options like the chocolate brownie and eton mess received positive feedback. While the food may not always meet expectations, the overall experience at the restaurant is seen as pleasant, and it is still recommended for a visit. With room for improvement in the service and food quality, the restaurant remains a charming spot for a meal.

The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was very laid-back. I will definitely be returning.
Seated on a low sofa near a fire exit. Never got my onion rings. Mains Ribs were tasty but not enough BBQ Sauce or meat . Tiny ramekin of coleslaw literally one mouthful. Economic portion of chips. Big corn on the cob bulked up the plate. Dessert of Chocolate Brownie was Divine!!! Coffee for buddy took 15 mins as we had to leave for a concert across the road. SUN THURS 2 COURSES FIR €26.95 did not apply apparently as steak ribs were not included personally I didn 't spot the exclusion. Maybe we were just unlucky on the night but I 'd try other places rather than return. Waitress was very pleasant but lacked training my buddy ordered a Martini and the barman came down to enquire what a Gin Martini was? We didn 't know as we hadn 't ordered one... Lots of room for improvement would have been 2 Star bar the Brownie.
The value for price is not good at this restaurant. The appetizer was very lackluster and the soup was not vegetable as expected, but rather potato soup. The fish was not fresh and the dessert consisted of two cookies with two strawberries. It seems like the chef lacks passion in their cooking.
