This morning, my husband took me to breakfast at the Pitstop in Corinth, MS, and I was really looking forward to pancakes. As an African American, I was disappointed when the server informed me that they were already preparing for lunch on the grills, so I couldn't order pancakes. Instead, I settled for a biscuit, which I found to be cold and I wasn’t even offered any butter to go with it. It was only 10:05 AM, and breakfast is served until 10:30 AM, after which lunch begins. Shortly after, a Caucasian woman came in, ordered pancakes, and was promptly served a hot, fresh plate. I politely expressed my feelings, mentioning that although my skin color is brown, I am just as special as anyone else. I chose to leave a tip for the server and shared my love for them with the love of God, even though it brought me to tears. It’s hurtful, but I know that God sees everything.

I expressed politely that while my skin color may be brown, I deserve to be treated just as special as anyone else. Despite this experience, I chose to leave a tip for the server and conveyed my love and blessings to them. However, it left me feeling disheartened. It’s a reminder that God sees everything.
