What Anonym dislikes about La Table d' Agathe:
restaurant discovered on Saturday noon. the entrance, holy jaccoes on lime beds, allowed for a good meal. but the dish, sauerkraut of the sea, was not up to the height: too much cream, the taste of butter too present, not very good. the decor is rather cold and the reception is not very warm. Can;t understand a previous review about the welcome. We booked 24hrs ahead for a party of 8, warmly welcomed, service was super attentive, never a problem and prompt and courteous at all times. The choice of set menus was varied and offered plenty of choices for all including one vegetarian in our party. The wine list equally so. had a great night, and would heartily recommend you try it out and make your own assessment.
It was 7:30pm on Saturday 30th September. We had just driven from Bruges (Belgium) when we entered this restaurant and asked for a table for 2 for dinner. The (female) host on observing that we did not speak french, and did not have a reservation stated We 're full even though we could see that 50% of the tables were vacant. So we walked down the road and ate a very nice meal at the Hôtel de la Marine. On returning to our car later (across the road) we saw even less customers seated. Tip for this restaurant either pre book, or talk to the host in fluent French (or don 't bother). We have passed this tip on to all our Australian friends and followers Note: We have just completed an 84 day, 17 country, 15000 km driving tour of Europe and only once was our offered custom (and Euros) treated with such total contempt.
We found La Table on the recommendation of our Airbnb hostess, and it was one of the two places near Demuin open for dinner on a Sunday, which we knew would be a challenge. Nice decor and cool inside, after a 30+ degree day. We had terrine, which was lovely then pasta and the steak, which I ordered as medium-rare but it was barely even warm, the inside was a deep deep blue-red. I asked for it to be cooked a little more, and it returned a tad warmer, but still 'blue-red '. I didn 't like to chance sending it back again (perhaps this is how they do medium-rare in Corbie). The vegetables etc were delicious however, and we had nice wine and a nice creme brûlée. Overall a good dinner, at a very reasonable price.
