This is a small shop sushi place that won't bit a huge swath out of your wallet. It is a great place for eat-in or take-out. It is very good sushi but if you are looking for decor and presentation then this is not the place for you. The tables are cramped into a small space but comfortable for patrons wishing to eat in. I recommend the combos at the back of the menu for best value - they all come with hot miso soup t... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Gem Sushi:
Don Katsu was disappointing (very soggy and porky). The rolls were not horrible but not quite right either. California rolls had very little avocado, and unaltered imitation crab piece in addition to the seasoned ones. Dynamite rolls consisted of barely there prawn tempura, lettuce, and a whole lot of tempura batter bits. Unagi rolls were just sad...drizzled with thin soy sauce. And prawn tempura...so skinny. I had high expectation for their gomae, but I was disappointed. Not that it 's bad, it 's just not outstanding. Certainly not best in town quality. Sushi, on the other hand, was sad. Rice lacks flavour. (Rice is the soul of sushi! Use a little more vinegar! Imitation crab (in California roll was dry. I wasn 't even sure if there was mayo in my roll...
Great service. Good prices. Always come back for the food. It's not a big place but well worth eating at.
Service is between terrible and awful. If you are not ordering large meal you are out of luck, it will take forever to see the food. They place priority on group orders and take out dinners. Even if those orders came after yours. We have waited for about 40 minutes, but our two rolls never came. Ended up paying just for the miso, left this place, not going back. They should close servicing walk in clients and only serve take outs.
Found this place to be very very good and great price!!! I'm happy they have wild salmon and not just farm salmon like most sushi restaurants in the neighborhood have to say this is my new Gem!!!
