We were pleasantly surprised at the authentic flavours in the dishes. We had the beef rib pieces and lamb curry, which is quite runny but very flavoursome. The deep fried banana and jackfruit spring roll is an interesting combination of flavours with sprinkles of cheese and chocolate but does actually work. IT'S BYO , and can be chilly here in the winter evenings. Would definitely go back. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sendok Garpu:
The food was really very ordinary. Rice dishes lukewarm with sparse meat while the curries were very basic and far too hot for their description of mild. Quite pleasant, simple decor but better value and food on offer at most food courts. View all feedback.
Visited the Sendok Garpu street food stall (warung) in Coopers Plains on Sunday 28th May 2017, a little after 11:00 a.m. We ordered Siomay Bandung and Otak Otak Goreng for our meals and Chendol for drinks. In addition to these sit-down meals, we ordered two take-aways – Nasi Kapau and Nasi Gulai Kambing.Siomay Bandung – steamed fish dim sum, boiled egg, tofu and potato topped with peanut sauce. The Siomay Bandung was quite scrumptious with the peanut sauce topping. The fish dim sum was quite delicious.Nasi Gulai Kambing – Indonesian lamb curry served with steamed rice, cucumber, lettuce and a small dollop of carrot pickle. The mildly spicy curry which went quite well with the steamed rice. The carrot pickle did not make an appreciable difference taste wise. Nasi Kapau – Steamed rice with cabbage and green bean curry (reminiscent of sayur lodeh), green chilli egg, beef rendang. The rendang was hot and spicy but the beef was rather tough and chewy. The boiled egg was very spicy due to the green chilli paste, and the cabbage and bean curry was quite tasty.Otak Otak Goreng was the real let-down. We expected fish cakes with a spicy dipping sauce, but what we got was a plate with 8 small bite-size fried fish balls and a mild sauce reminiscent of mayonnaise. The fish taste was not very distinctive. Due to the meagre serving, we felt that this was not value for money. At $10 for the dish, each fish ball cost $1.25.The Chendol was creamy and the small plastic tumblers were a third filled with ice. A bit pricey at $5 each, but tasted okay. The warung operates only during weekends at lunchtime, and it seems to be a popular hangout for the Indonesian community. There were ten people dining at this warung that morning and all seemed to be Indonesians except for my wife and me. The lady who served us was friendly and polite. On the whole, we would rate the food as generally good, authentic Indonesian.
We recently enjoyed a meal at this lovely restaurant. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food - what can I say - reminded of the meals I enjoyed in Indonesia when I lived there. I go there to relax, enjoy the food, be pampered and just for the whole experience. We will be going back and soon!!
A group of four, we recently dined at Sendok Garpu Indooroopilly for the first time. We ordered the banquet, and were not disappointed. Lovely authentic Indonesian dishes, full of flavour, and made with fresh ingredients. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the prices seemed reasonable. We will be back!
Amazing authentic food, good service and interesting drinks - decor could do with a polish up but the food here makes you forget everything else - in love!
Authentic Indonesian food from mild to spicy! Try some of the different dishes and you won't be disappointed! The staff are lovely and very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. There was a group of 10 of us and everyone loved the food. This was at the Indooroopilly restaurant.
