Broth Brine

Broth Brine
4.4 / 5 (10 reviews)

Description

A dedicated gluten‑free kitchen serving scratch-made broths, bowls, coffee, smoothies and baked goods, this health‑focused spot shines for flavor and dietary accommodations but feels more like a café in an office/medical suite than a traditional restaurant. Expect fresh, made‑to‑order food (and occasional waits), excellent bone broth and customizable smoothies; pastries can sell out and the menu is intentionally limited. Ideal for wellness‑minded diners and office lunches, it could benefit from expanded hours, fuller menu choices and improved dine‑in ambiance.

I had the blended espresso coffee, blueberry muffin and a 2oz shot of the classic bone broth. The coffee was smooth with just enough sweetness and the muffin was perfect! The bone broth had my taste buds going crazy; full of flavor. Quality ingredients at a great price. This place is a hidden gem!

I had high hopes and wanted to love this place so much! A gluten free dedicated kitchen is much needed in the Houston area. I just moved from Dallas and they are way ahead of Houston with healthy dining options. Unfortunately, I was very underwhelmed by the menu and atmosphere. FYI the restaurant is inside a suite an office and medical building. All of the tables are inside the business and medical lobby. Maybe it's because of COVID, but it just felt off seeing wheelchairs and a pharmacy while coming to have lunch with family and be served plastic containers. A server, dishes, and some outdoor dining tables might be a good idea to improve guest experience. However, It seems like the restaurant's intention was to serve the office employees and the patrons of the medical services offered in the building. Truly, it is the nicest hospital style kitchen/cafeteria. Broth and Brine is not a restaurant. There was a digital kiosk outside the kitchen/service area to order food. We kept going in and out to ask questions about the menu. The menu is a bit underwhelming... like 2 broths, 2 salads, 1 burger type. It's limited and felt like it was designed for someone with health issues that could be coming from their medical appointment to modify their dietary needs. I was hoping for more options that would be dairy free as well or offer substitutions. They were out of pastries too (the gf/df brownie is what I was looking forward to most! They appeared to be in the middle of a lunch rush from office tenant employees. It makes sense to me now why they have limited operating hours after discovering the location and serving capacity. My family and I drove 30 minutes to try out Broth and Brine just to go back to True Food Kitchen. I eat gluten/dairy free, so I truly wanted to support this local spot. Honestly, the 3 stars is just for effort for getting a dedicated craft kitchen going in this area. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. But I would give 1 2 stars because we didn't even eat and the atmosphere was so odd. They did their best with the situation they are in, but I had different hopes/expectations. I would be happy to have Broth and Brine in my office for lunches, but this isn't a dine in restaurant. I hope they can expand their menus and service so I can go back regularly. It's just not up to what I hoped for. TBH as someone who eats this way for medical reasons, this environment was unappetizing. I didn't want to be reminded of my health issues while eating and trying to heal. Maybe this environment is supportive to some people, but it wasn't for me and my non gf family guests.

I had the pleasure of trying some offerings at this wonderful restaurant today. I typically have appointments at the wellness center on Saturdays when they are closed. I enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte along with two of their signature farmhouse cookies. The cookies were...
