Bank holiday Monday in France and we decided we should have lunch here. It was the normal menu ie no menu du jour but boy what a menu. We opted for the €35 menu and we were more than happy. Amuse Bouche of tuna with toast and a cheeky aperitif, then oysters for some, trout for others, main course : some had steak (never had a steak as tender) others had veal, then the cheese course, then dessert, with a beautiful red... What Ryder Kreiger doesn't like about Le Rejallant:
We went for a drink at the bar Monday lunchtime, and would have had lunch but, because the restaurant was "fully booked", the bar wasn't open. The restaurant was in fact half-empty as only the tables on the terrace were being used. In addition, the staff had no information as to what might be available in nearby Ruffec.Totally inefficient management. View all feedback.
We visited in the evening, which was a shame as we missed out on Plat du Jour and the lovely views overlooking the river. However, the ambiance onside was good and the person serving us was very friendly and efficient. My choice of mixed fish...platter was good, although the monkfish was unfortunately overcooked. However, the hake was excellent and the tuna and prawns good. I loved the accompanying creamy mashed potato and sweet potatoes. Not a lover of risotto so that was left. My husband and sister loved their choice of steak which was cooked to perfection, although a bit fatty. Our carafes of white and red wine were very tasty. Good food, good service though prices a bit on the high side.
Lovely time with friends, food good, attractive surroundings and waitress was friendly. Have been before this visit but at lunchtime, sat outside on the deck by the river, gorgeous views and Plat du Jour very good.
Despite an email to he restaurant asking for the following day's menu du jour, the reply was that they didn't know but there would be a choice of fish or meat. We arrived at 10 minutes to 12. Staff could see us outside but the...door remained locked. There was no menu du jour posted So we left at 1 minute to 12 and ate in a very nice restaurant in Ruffec (Cafe de la Paix)
We had the set menues which were well componed, very well cooked and tasting delicious. Sitting outdoors makes this restaurant well worth a visit, but you have to book a table!
