We are regulars of this popular eatery at Breakfast Point. For lunch we enjoyed seafood pasta, and paella. Both tasty, although the paella was delayed. To their credit, the new owners apologised sincerely and discounted the bill. One suggestion: consider offering side salads. This option is prevalent elsewhere and should provide more options and increase patronage. Overall, attentive staff, pleasant food and keen new... View all feedback.
What Rosli doesn't like about olivekitchen:
Its been some time since we last visited this cafe. I waited for a friend to join me so I ordered a coffee, the intention being that when my friend joined me we would have lunch. After waiting for a ridiculous time for a latte to be made and served I decided against eating here. The place wasn't busy so this couldn't be the problem. The coffee was average and the small dog at the table next to me was constantly yappi... View all feedback.
Waited 10 mins to be served than left. There were three staff serving tables and plenary of spare tables and no queues so no shortage of servers.
I reviewed Olive Kitchen just over a year ago and was quite critical of it at the time. We’ve recently been back to try it again since it has changed hands. I think the food and service are much better now the cafe is being run by new people. We’ve visited for breakfast a few times recently. The breakfast menu has all the standard offerings. It’s not hugely creative but everything we ordered was well cooked and tasty. I had the vegetarian breakfast on one visit. It was around $20 but there was a lot of food so I thought it was good value. Eggs were also cooked well. I’ve also tried the mushroom and asparagus omelette which came with toast. It was also a nice dish. We didn’t wait long for the food to arrive. My one criticism of the menu is that some of the breakfast sides are very pricey. $5.90 for smoked salmon and avocado! That’s a ridiculous price to pay for a side of avocado (especially when avocados are pretty cheap in the supermarket at the moment). I’m afraid I won’t be ordering sides if I visit as I can’t justify paying those steep prices. One change for the better that we have appreciated is that the cafe is now serving decent bread hooray! You can order soy linseed, dark rye etc. Bread is yummy and of a high quality. When we ordered toast, it was a generous serving. The service is also much better. Waitresses are friendly and welcoming. They don’t mind if you make changes to the menu, and go out of their way to help. It’s great news for Breakfast Point that this cafe is operating at a high standard. We will certainly be return visitors if the good food and service continues.
Atmosphere is good but food was quite disappointing, too expensive for very average food. I ordered the corn fritters which were quite stodgy (maybe they were frozen) and served with one small slice of smoked salmon. My friend order the smashed avocado on one piece of bread, he said it was ok but still felt hungry at $22 each item it's not good value. Would only go there for coffee.
The staff were wonderful and the food was amazing. Thank you I really enjoyed it (good size serves).
Got some protein with our pancakes this morning. Massive cockroach in between our pancakes. Absolutely disgusting. The beauty of it is that the owners didn’t come out to apologise. We only received an apology from the waitress. AND then they charged us for the meal! We were only refunded for the pancakes. Didn’t even have the decency to refund for the crappy coffees we had. DO NOT DINE HERE! They should be closed down immediately. Makes me sooo sick to the stomach.
