We had shrimps and... read more There are not many ways to eat in San Carlos we were at a bed and breakfast, but the food was expensive. We had an early dinner in Los Arcos. We had shrimps and fish tacos and grilled fish and they were good. I ordered guacamole. We also have chips and salsa that were good. The place seemed clean and the ladies ran it where beautiful. Don't be in a hurry, here things are slow and so it is.... Prices are good for the quantity and quality of the food you receive.

Once we did finally order and I got... read more Our first clue should have been no one came to ask if we wanted anything to drink for at least 10 minutes after we arrived. Once we did finally order and I got my lobster, it was dry and a terrible waste of money. We...had waited an inordinate amount of time for our food, and I had really hoped to catch the sunset. Otherwise I would have sent it back. The only other customers were a Latin family, who were served promptly and checked upon several times. I had the distinct feeling that this place resented gringos as customers. Though the courtyard and open air feel created a nice ambience, terrible service and poor food ruined it.

Los Arcos, while certainly not the most elegant re... read more OK. . . we have been very fortunate to travel extensively and enjoy amazing food in many different countries. Los Arcos, while certainly not the most elegant restaurant we 've enjoyed, was a memorable experience. I remember it being a quiet Saturday evening with only one...other couple coming in. . . but they were obviously locals. . . always a good sign. The chef of 10 years was there with only one assistant. . . they were the kindests of hosts, waitresses, and dish washers, in addition to creating essentially what ever we wanted to eat. Thank goodness for my husband 's fluency in Spanish. . . which allowed us to go off menu . We thoroughly enjoyed a combination of a lobster tail, large shrimp and thin slices of small sweet scallops cooked slowly and tenderly in a slightly sweet butter sauce. . . amazing! Our special side dishes of fried plantains, fried potatoes, rice and whole pinto beans were a welcome change to the usual french fries and refried beans. A couple of cold Pacificos and our whole feast added up to less than $25 US dollars! After the meal, a photo op suggested by the chef (owner? , and a big hug was the wonderful dessert! Very highly recommended!
