We stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for a dinner. Our boat was docked in the town marina. Fer à Cheval was an easy walk from the marina, looked attractive and the posted menu was enticing. We entered a light airy friendly restaurant and were quickly seated. Looking around we saw the main dining area was filled with locals--a very good sign. A taste of our food and we knew why the place was popular. The food... View all feedback.
What Ifunanya Oyebola doesn't like about Fer a Cheval:
The food is pleasant but I wouldn't consider it high standard. As a vegetarian eating in France is pretty difficult but while we organised a menu in advance it was quite bland but I could still enjoy it. My highlight was the lemon ice cream. Like I said middle of the road stuff. View all feedback.
We scheduled a team dinner months in advance. The week of the race when we were in town. We were given menu choices for our main course and dessert. We had 20 people in our party, so we wanted to give them plenty of time to prepare for us. The spot it was located was very nice. Parking was right across the street. There was a language barrier, but I had a friend from France to translate for me. Everything went great until they brought out the steaks. Many of us wanted them to cook the steak longer they came out VERY rare. My translator told the owner this and it seemed she got upset and refused. I urged my translator to tell her again. So she took back several of the steaks. Minutes later they came back out still pretty rare. Again she refused to cook them longer and stood her ground. Whatever, I didn't want to make a scene. Then we were told they didn't have enough desserts for what we ordered. Again whatever... we gave them plenty of notice. When checking out, I questioned the tab it seemed quite high at 700 euro, thats right, I said 700 euro for 20 of us. Not including 50 euro in alcohol. Well she went over the tab and it was about 50 over what it should have been. I got the dinner sponsored but told the sponsor around 500 US. He was nice enough to let me work off the difference. Thanks Jerry Tucker Needless to say the team WILL NOT be going back there this year. We'll spend our elsewhere.

We entered a light airy friendly restaurant and were quickly seated. Looking around we saw the main dining area was filled with locals--a very good sign. A taste of our food and we knew why the place was popular. The food was excellent, the service prompt, the wine delicious and the ambiance impeccable. All-in-all, a very pleasant evening and as we left, the locals found out we were Americans and we received a hearty cheer. Do try this restaurant.
The food was absolutely tasteless, overcooked, and the few vegetables were not fresh. Very expensive for what you get on your plate. Never again!
We went there on Saturday 05/08/17 noon completely by chance what a good surprise welcoming and friendly service, relaxed and pleasant, serving with small care, tasteful swine cheeks perfect both in the cooking and in the taste....rapport qualité prix impeccable we will soon return there
Despite a somewhat long service that is quite justified by a minute preparation of the foods, this address is a safe value on Commercy. the reception is family, respectful, attentive, the quality of the dishes is excellent, the friendly setting, in short I highly recommend it!!!
