What Brianna B doesn't like about 814 A Texas Bistro:
We went to this cafe on what seemed like their opening weekend so some of the issues could get worked out. Atmosphere was great. They didn't have their liquor license yet but when they do it'll be a great bar. Waitstaff was nice and attentive. Food was were it all went downhill. The chips were store bought and the queso was way too thick. The hill country rueben was too rich and the saurkraut was nonexistent. The Rio... View all feedback.
The chef is also the owner. Food is amazing. They never disappoint. If you enjoy a great salmon and a great salad with a house made vinaigrette you should check it out.
Full disclosure: we did not eat here, so the review is not for the food. The rating is for service. We just came back from hiking Lost Maples and went in for dinner. The hostess looked at us and asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn't andshe said they were booked even though we saw available tables. We asked if she could double check and she spoke to the chef wholooked at us and said they were unable to serve. We had a two year old and two other kids with us. We were not dressed up asnice as the other customers and feel they didn't want us in there. We drove by an hour later and the tables were stillavailable. The restaurant seems very nice and the food smelled good. We would have loved to have eaten there, but I'm guessingthey're not kid-friendly and want to keep it upscale. I can understand that, but would have liked for them to tell us there wasa dress code rather than they're booked.
We visited this café, which appeared to be in its opening weekend, so some of the issues we encountered may be due to the early days. The atmosphere was fantastic. They didn’t have their liquor license yet, but once they do, it should become a great bar. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. However, the food was where things went downhill. The chips tasted store-bought, and the queso was overly thick. The Hill Country Reuben was excessively rich, and there was barely any sauerkraut. The Rio Grande chicken tacos were disappointing; the chicken was cold and overcooked, and the rice was extremely dry. At $15 for just two tacos, rice, and beans, it felt overpriced. Also, what Texas establishment doesn’t serve sweet tea?
Charming little restaurant with fantastic food! Be sure to make a reservation, as seating can be limited. The menu changes daily and is small, but everything offered is delicious! The atmosphere is soothing and unhurried, perfect for unwinding. They also have a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Overall, it's an excellent spot for a relaxing dinner in Comfort.
Fantastic new addition to Comfort! The menu is intriguing, the service is outstanding, and the live music creates an excellent atmosphere. They truly deliver on their promises.
